Not quite sure I understand though. Sounds like they are set on playing ND on the 22nd and FSU on the 23rd, but there is still a consolation/championship game on the 23rd. I understand Providence is the other team involved and Umass already plays them, so are they scrapping the usual format this year because of that?

Oh there's no way that would happen. My guess is because Umass already plays Providence next year, they are going to get rid of the champ/consolation format and just have the 22nd be Umass/ND and PC/FSU and the 23rd be Umass/FSU and ND/Providence. I know this past year it was a winner of game 1 vs winner of game 2 type deal with Louisville and UNC meeting in the finals.

Thrilled that the Northeastern game is the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. Any fans whose folks live in the area and are home for the holidays (ie yours truly) will be in attendance and I suspect attendance totals will be way higher for that one than for your average November Wednesday non-con game, even if students have already headed home.
I'm also already planning a Mohegan trip. Anyone else planning on going?

No - it's crucial that we know what section to all migrate to. I'll be checking the Ticketmaster seating chart and let you all know what sections are going quickly. I've got three inquiries already cooking to find out what sections are for UMass and what bench we'll be at. I'm also checking into the Farmer's Almanac and local booking agents. If we can couple this with a high profile boy band the same weekend, we could hit the jackpot, no pun intended. Marty really needs this data so he can plug it into his attendance predictor algorithm. For the record, an event like this requires considerably more advanced planning than other games and given that tickets go on sale soon, I figured I'd see if anyone I know from the board was going (so that I could then reach out off the board and start the conversation about attending). That's probably a very busy weekend at the casino and sometimes hotel deals can be had if you purchase pretty far in advance. Plus, given that it's right before Thanksgiving and that the game times are really early on a super busy weekend for people, I didn't see a problem. And no, I wasn't trying to get a headcount (I'll save that for at least September).
But pardon me for killing time by asking a benign question on a slow work day.
