Game 17, 2013-14: at Elon
I wasn't able to see it or hear most of it but every time I checked Gamecast on ESPN, UMass was ahead by double digits.
Before this stretch of 5 out of 6 on the road began I posted games these games would teach us a lot about this team.
Refuse to Lose 2.0....these guys are on a mission!

That was the best all around game the boys have played in awhile.
Every time Elon made any kind of move at them, they responded and just kept them at arms length. It was a nice efficient game too, good shooting percentage and solid board work.
Jeez - I almost forgot... ONLY 11 TURNOVERS!
Just a really good game.

Think how many top 20 teams have been knocked off lately. Puts things in perspective.xlgman wrote: We're going on the road against teams that desperately want to knock off a top 20 team.
I agree that this was our best played game in a while. Better game flow, less ugliness. Not quite like the start of the year, but definitely back on track to that potentially unsustainable greatness.
One thing that bugged me was the suggestion that Chaz wasn't into the game. I completely disagree. I think he is hurting more than he shows. His cuts aren't as hard as earlier in the year, at least to my eye over a crappy feed, but feel free to disagree.

very Happy! This is the type of win I have been looking for. As others have said. Got out early and kept them at a comfortable distance. Yes we could have put our foot down and stretched it to 15-20, but who cares. With the way they have been playing, to win by 10 and never have this in doubt is a great confidence builder for the team and I'm sure for a lot of fans.
Go Umass!

Inside the Box Score:
Putney and TBerg combined for 10 fouls in 24 minutes. A couple of Putney's, in particular, were just god-awful calls. But it's something to be addressed.
Chaz did not lead us in assists. He had 4, Gordon 5. I can't imagine there's been more than a few games that has happened.
Trey Davis had a really big three to stave off one of their runs. He also had 6 rebounds and 0 turnovers in 25 minutes. I think his emergence as a steady ball handler has been an unsung key to our success. When we lost Jesse and Farrell, we lost a lot of our expected ball-handling depth. Trey's ability to not only hold down the fort but make a TON of positive plays has been huge. We aren't even close to 16-1 without him.
We didn't press yesterday. I thought that was strange, as I think that team could have been successfully pressured. However, it may have led to better overall defense. We didn't give up anything easy in transition, and they shot only 34% from the field. I'm wondering if getting back and set up made us better in the half court. We also saved some energy. I'm interested to see if we do this again going forward, or if it was simply because of our schedule this week.

If you paid for the stream there is a replay on the same page.
Stream wasn't awesome but not unwatchable either. The coverage was actually pretty good but the image quality was a few years behind. Let's not forget though that the ONLY footage of that awesome Put dunk on YSU is on shitty UMASS-o-vision... so we can't really say much.
I was happy to see it and don't feel the need for a refund. (And for the touchy ones, I'm NOT saying that if you did/do you're doing the wrong thing).

Trey has been really solid this year. I'm almost looking forward to him coming into the game as much as I am Maxie because he can hit the 3 and usually makes a big play that gets us going. Getting very consistent play from himChris20 wrote:Trey Davis had a really big three to stave off one of their runs. He also had 6 rebounds and 0 turnovers in 25 minutes.
