I wouldn't bet the house on it but I'd bet the car.
So back to UMass, let's start a game. What date do you predict we'll announce our new HC?
I'm going with January 6th.

I also don't think Schiano is a shoo in to Penn St. He has some baggage, and they still need to tread lightly in the PR waters. His reputation at Rutgers was shady.

I'm pretty sure if there is a coach out there who is squeaky clean and perfect he is not leaving / getting fired for his job. Everyone has their faults, unless, you're Tim Tebow.
UMass '10 but I run with the '06 class

You don't think there is a squeaky clean bigtime coordinator that would leave to take the Penn St head job?

Actually, Penn State will never surprise me with who they employ.

Hmm, so what's a more attractive opportunity for Whipple: HC at UMass or OC for the Texans?

Going to be mid-January in all likelihood.

Four of the twelve are former football players. It looks like they are trying to reconnect with the group that Charley alienated. I hope they move this along quickly. A lenghty search will cost us recruits.

A bad choice could cost us a program....get the right guy. Don't worry about the time factor. Will pay benefits in the long term.

^ I'm saying this because I feel they already have a short list (we know who most of the names are) and that this is partly to show that due diligence is being performed. Mid January is fine, as stated in the article. I just don't want infighting among the committee to bog the process down.

^^
Not if the new coach goes 1-11 in each of his first two seasons. We will have the same people calling for that persons head as were with this coach. We were always going to be a revolving door for coaches who had success here, but I fear we are now going to end up being a revolving door for other reasons.
