Postgame press conf

Post by JAR » Tue Dec 10, 2013 8:54 am

Does anyone know if the the Postgame press conf are being posted anywhere? They use to be under all access but I didn't see them there and recently found some under masslive but the last one was from Nebraska.

nope...I have been bothering @UmassAthletics on twitter to start posting them again. The BYU game had some sound bytes from the post game, but only from DK.

There is really no excuse for not posting any of them. They send someone to record every game.

They all used to get posted, right? I feel like they were always coming up in the auto-play feature with the old site.

I remember a few years ago they had them for all the games home and away, along with both teams. Then they moved to just home games with both teams, and last year was just UMass at home.
I would love to get them back.

This and the lack of highlights are a real disappointment. In this day and age with the abundance of video footage, there really is no excuse to not have highlights and the press conference easy to find after every game on the front page of the basketball page.

With all the new interest in the team, the Athletics website has taken a step backward. Hate the new design - I thought the old one was not only good but also won some awards at one point. Why they needed to fix what wasnt broken is beyond me.

I think I responded to this same question in the BYU thread somewhere... but aren't these highlights now being posted on the UMass Athletics blog?? I know it's not exactly what it used to be before, but there is a video on there that has highlights from the BYU game and it is worked in with parts of the post game conference.

I agree that it should be better, but if people haven't seen these it's at least something!

Here's the blog: http://www.umassathletics.com/blog/basketball/
(if you scroll down a ways you will get to the BYU highlights/press conference)

And if that's all you are looking for, here is the link to just that video: http://www.umassathletics.com/blog/2013 ... r-byu.html

Apologies if this is already widely known...

That was a little better than the average post game interview. Got to hear from Clyde for the first time, and his comments show that he is really buying in. Kellogg made some very frank statements about how he is appraising the freshmen.

Is it asking too much to have some mics on the questioners and maybe a second mic on the table? it's like hearing half a conversation.

That happens at NFL and MLB games too. It's annoying.

Right. I asked someone I knew with the Red Sox about this years ago, his response was that the Press Conference isn't really meant for people who aren't in the room, it's for the media in attendance and they can all hear the questions.

Fine - then don't put it on TV or the radio!

Like Chris said, this happens at MLB and NFL games too.

The reason for this is that they can't require the reporters to speak into a mic when answering their questions, because the press conferences are for the media, not for the fans. The purpose of the PCs are for the media to get the info they look for in an organized setting with players and coaches.

Typically, teams will do everything they can to try to make sure the questions are heard, but they can't always control it and they certainly can't shove a mic into the reporters faces.

Hope that helps clear things up a little...it's really out of their control.
