Apparently applies to all stores (it might considering it's on the website), but at least in the Agawam, MA store that just opened (about 5 months later then intended ), all merchandise is $8.98 or less for a limited time.

Grabbed the jacket today. Pretty decent stuff. Then again, it's $9. WHo could complain?

This is not a Steve and Barry's problem, it's a UMass problem. Go inside the University store and see how many shades of maroon are on the various clothing items. There is always a little bit of difference between dye lots and materials, but it seems like much more of a difference than that. These days with Pantone colors there is simply no excuse for this. Just go to the Harvard Coop sometime. They seem to be able to get their maroon right.

The people responsible for brand image at UMass have been incompetent for at least the 26 years since I matriculated. As much as I like it, my forest green UMass sweatshirt simply should never have been made.

Oddly enough, simply Google 'umass colors' and one gets:

which is unambiguous in its assertion that Pantone 201 maroon is the only official color of UMass.

This is a direct quote:

"The official colors, UMass maroon (PMS® 201) and white, are a central component of the Graphic Identity Program for all print, product, and online applications. Correct and consistent use of the official colors helps reinforce the university's identity. Do not use another shade of red or maroon as a substitute for UMass maroon."

In the real world, people who ordered or allowed the manufacture of UMass logo wear with other colors would be fired. At UMass they probably get a raise for being innovative.

I agree with Jackman 10000%. The whole "Amherst" thing is a cockup of the highest degree, and everyone involved in it should never be allowed to design, sell or approve so much as an athletic sock, and then only under adult supervision. Ever. Come on people, this stuff is not difficult.

Wow, those suck. Amherst should NEVER be the primary name shown on any apparel. UMass-Amherst is the flagship campus, thereby "Amherst" should always be secondary, if shown at all.

I live in Mass. and when people ask where I went to school I was always answer: "UMass." Sometimes they'll ask which one and I respond as if there were no other one besides Amherst.
