Today in History - 3/26

Post by TBird » Wed Mar 26, 2008 3:35 pm

"1992: The Minutemen's most successful season to date ends with a 87-77 loss to Kentucky in the East Region semi-final of the NCAA Tournament in Philadelphia. Jim McCoy hits a 3/4 court shot at the halftime buzzer."

Worst technical ever called. Period.

Travis Ford had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in that game. Shot 2-7 from the field

Just think, if that technical was not called, the Laettner shot (and what many call "the greatest game ever") might not have ever happened

I think you mis-read the box score. I got it from BigBlueHistory.net, and it says that Ford didn't take a shot, field or from the stripe.

I think you read the line for Dale Brown.

As long as we're on this date's history, two more bad things on 3/26...

1995: Oklahoma State, led by big man Bryant Reeves, ends the Minutemen's dreams of their first Final Four, with a 68-54 win in the East Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament.

2001: Steve Lappas introduced as the program's 19th head coach. 8)
