Dan Hurley to the Lakers?

The Laker job right now is not a good job. LeBron is a coach killer. He and AD are not enough to win a title. Older players like LeBron may still retain their offensive skills, but usually they are unwilling or unable at their age to make the defensive commitment to win a title. AD is too brittle ...

Re: 2023-24 Season

BC had more offensive firepower. UMASS struggled to score goals.

I think that the broken state of college athletic is going to lead to the downfall of athletics at alot of schools.

With NIL and the transfer portal as currently constituted, entire rosters turnover. With significant players at every school leaving every year, why bother attempt to follow a team ...

New Transfer Rules

I hate the transfer rules. Players should be allowed to transfering and play right away if the head coach leaves.
Grad transfers should also be allowed to play right away.

If a player transfers to a new institution. but their coach remains, player should have to sit out one year.

Also. players ...

Re: KAEO: John Calipari

It will be interesting how many of his recruits follow him to Arkansas.
I do think the pressure at UK was probably making the job not enjoyable.
It seems like he has not adapted with the times. Still recruiting top level freshmen, but not tapping the transfer portlal to add talented experienced ...

Re: 2024 NCAA Tournament Discussion

Just a general observation. How many games were decided by a shot at the buzzer ? That's what made the tourney exciting in the past.
There are two many blowouts now.

He gave us a good year. Good luck to him in the future.
We need to move on. Josh is now the past.

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024

What made March Madness what it was were the mid majors and small schools who pulled off the upsets in the first weekend of the tournament. Nobody gives a crap about the 8th place team from the Power 5 who make a run in the tourney.

If Izzo and his Power 5 brethren kick the mid majors and small ...

Re: Conference Realignment

Why would the MAC want UCONN as a football affiliate? The MAC has already gone down that path and affiliate teams have left the moment they get a better offer. I still think that UCONN ends up in a revised ACC if the ACC loses teams like FSU and Clemson.

Why don't UMASS fans appreciate being in a ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

What was the alternative ? Remaining independent in football was a non starter.

Were all of you ready to drop football to stay in the A-10 ?
UMASS was not going to return to FCS and the CAA for football.

I say this as a hoops fan.

Re: UMass is back in the MAC

For those advocating for URI to join the .MAC, didn't Rhode nearly drop football ?

Concerning UCONN, I think they are waiting for FSU and Clemson to leave the ACC leaving them to join a reconstituted ACC.

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

I am primarily a hoops fan. That being said. UMASS just moved into a stable all sports league.

The A-10 used to get 3-5 men's hoop bids per year. No longer. A-10 only gets 1-2 bids per year now and I don't see that changing. I also don't see us invited into AAC. Is that a good fit for us ? It has ...

: Conference Realignment

I actually think that if Florida State is able to get out from under the ACC Grant of Rights and they are able to join the SEC, (I don't see FSU as a Big Ten school) I see several other schools leaving the ACC as well. In that scenario, I see UCONN as the # 1 target and candidate to join a revamped ...
