I met a fellow UMASS alum at a UNH job fair this week - ironic - who also played hockey at UMASS. No permission to mention his name.

He was VERY ENTHUSIASTIC about the quality of the incoming team for 18-19.

FWIW - glad to meet such a grad, in a 'hostile setting' !!!!

Can you tell us for which coach he played?

Picked to finish 6th in the Coaches Poll. I also saw last night the media poll has them finishing 7th, behind Lowell. That seemed very low to me. I'm still hoping for a top 4 finish.

I think hockey is going to be similar to hoops. There is a consensus top 2 or 3 and then after that there is a glob where I could see any of 5 or 6 teams finishing 4-9.

Something just feels different about this team compared to last year. Seem to be playing with a confidence that just wasn't quite there last year. They knew they were expected to sweep RPI and just took care of business. Refreshing stuff after years of some disappointing and embarrassing losses. Obviously it's still early in the year, but man it's (finally) an exciting time to be a UMass hockey fan.

I'm a little out of touch but do we have a few key guys who are out with injuries/illness? Anyone know when they are expected back?

Chukarov has been recovering from offseason surgery but is expected to play this weekend. Chau has been sick and sounds out for this weekend. Not sure what’s up with Suter but I believe he’s also banged up. McClaughlin is sitting out the beginning of the season due to disciplinary reasons. Not sure for how many games.
