I don't understand why nobody is talking about this. Forbes is going to be playing for the Panama national team in the Olympic qualifier in Vegas. He could possibily get a chance to play against Kobe and Melo and all those NBA guys. This is going to be HUGE for him I think for the coming season.....to be able to go against some of the best players in the world before coming in to the 07-08 season.

I agree, its a great experience for him and bodes well for his preparation for a marquee role in this year's season.

Hopefully everyone on the team is busting their ass in anticipation of this season and the chance to fill the big shoes of our departed seniors - and I'm confident they are.

It might not be a bad idea to change the Subject Heading to something more relevant.

Here's the Wikipedia page for the tournament. Clicking on some of the country names, you can see the rosters of the current teams. The Argentine team is LOADED with Manu and Pepe Sanchez and Nocioni and Delfino. I think I can see Panama making it out of the pool play.

Panama and Uraguay are tied early in the fourth quarter. Forbes has 8 points, 3 fouls and several turnovers. He's played 21 minutes so far but is not in the game right now.

Sheridan had a tourney preview up today on ESPN.com.....mentioned about 4 or 5 good Panamaniacs NOT playing, then mentioned another 3 or 4 as the guys who would need to step it up for them to compete. Forbes not mentioned.

Forbes made a big basket with 30 seconds to go and he got fouled, but he missed the free throw. That put them up by 2. At the end of regulation it's 75-75.

Who knew? Rhymer playing in the same tournament for the Virgin Islands. They are in the opposite bracket from Gary and Panama.

Oh, and Panama lost in OT. Gary had 14 and fouled out.

Here's the box for the Panama game.

Uruguay won 88-84 in OT.

Forbes played 30 minutes and scored 14 points.

5-8 2-pointers, 1-2 3-pointers, but only 1-5 from the line. He had 3 boards, 6 turnovers and 5 fouls.

Does anybody know how many fouls a guy gets in the international game? Is it 5 or 6?

Surprised that ESPN.com preview didn't mention Forbes. It mentioned other american college players on other squads, as well as the prominent players.

And if Gary is getting 30 minutes despite foul trouble, and getting the ball with 30 seconds left, it appears as though he is more than a role player.

I don't disagree with that, but they mentioned some guy from Jacksonville University.
