Lineup looks good...
PG - Anderson 5'10"
Four year starter is one of the most experienced guards in the A-10
2G - Bowers 6'4"
If he stays and works hard over the summer could blossom into one of the better scorers in the league. Otherwise look for Maxwell to step right in.
WF - Carrier 6'8"
Carrier (amazingly) will be relatively unknown and if Bowers and Freemen can step up look for Carrier to use his size advantage to make things happen.
PF - Viggiano 6'6"
He played his best minutes as a power forward this year and with Carrier helping with the rebounding I think he will stay in this position at least at the start of the season
C - Freeman 6'9"
Like Viggiano he blossomed in the second half of the season. His low post moves will keep him down low
Valuable Minutes
Chadwick
Maxwell
Lee
Adding depth
Olivier
Lasme

I'd expect Gabe Lee, if healthy, to come back as the starting center. I think his athleticism at the 5 is a great asset on defense. Rashaun's strength at the 4 is still going to keep some big bodies off the glass. But I think Gabe's shot-blocking ability was missed late in the season. Lasme wasn't bad, but he's still so raw you never know how he's going to perform.
So if Lee and Freeman are the 5 and 4, respectively, and we know AA and Bowers are the 1 and 2, there's a whole bunch of fightin' going on for the starting 3 spot. Carrier, Viggiano, and Maxwell are all going to duke it out, although MoMax can pick up minutes at SG and Viggiano can back up Freeman at the 4 as well. I can't wait to see how Carrier competes once full squad practice starts.
Some question marks:
Lasme (if he continues to develop, where are his minutes?)
Kouyate (Will he contribute at all? Will he transfer?)
Lamoureux (how will his game adjust to this level -- he might surprise us)
Recruiting (we need a PG desperately)

I think Delkins has the right idea with Gabe Lee, Deke. Lee is injury prone. He missed half of this season. He missed alot of time last season. And in High School he missed most of his Senior Year if I recall. He seems much too fragile to expect him to get through an entire season as a starter without breaking down yet again. Using him as a reserve and carefully rationing his minutes might be the way to go.

OK. We know AA can play the point... Chadwick is a PG, both are gone after next season... but who looks better between Bowers and Maxwell at PG. It would be great to have one of thses guys getting serious playing time at PG by next seasons end, so that the team has a starting PG with experience for 05/06.

If you think AA can play the point, then you must value point guards who rarely dish the rock. AA can play, but he is not a point guard.

I am very curious about what the lineup will be next year with all the returning players, the newcomers and the people who had to redshirt. I am not entirely worried about the PG situation right now. I know AA only has one more season, but at this point, lets just worry about next season before we start to think about how the team will collapse in two years without a PG, besides, with the motion offense it isn't as important, because everyone has to be moving and handling the ball anyway. I am more interested who will play the 3,4, and 5. We all know that Freeman will see a lot of minutes, but the other two will be a question. This year, we will actually have some depth and people fighting for positions which should motivate some people.
Nope
The situation in the front court looks pretty interesting. Viggiano was playing pretty well at pf..does he stay there for next season? Or will Gabe start there? If Carrier is ready to step right in at small forward, I like Jeff at the power forward spot. He's very fundamentally sound and is much more versatile than Gabe. A starting lineup of Jeff, Ray, Carrier, Anderson and Max/Bowers would give us 5 players that can play on the perimeter and put the ball on the floor. Also, Lasme should be able to provide good minutes off the bench. He might even be competing for a starting spot next year. Lamoureax could also provide some additional help. It looks to me like a solid 8 or 9 man rotation. Should be a very interesting year.
I don't know who's going to play power forward, it seems that they were forced to play junk defenses because of Viggiano at the 4 and I don't think that will continue. Unless of course, Carrier guards the opposition's 4 while on defense.
AA
Bowers/Max
Carrier
Viggiano
Freeman
Goody: AA doesn't penetrate? Nobody except for Chadwick penetrates on this entire team!

Re: Lineup looks good...
Putting Carrier and Lamoureux into the mix, particularly Carrier in a starting role, is putting some high expectations on the guys. I hope Carrier will be that good, but don't count on it happening right away. As for Lamoureux, as was pointed out, while his team won a championship, and three of his teammates were on the all-tournament team, he was not, and his stats for the season were pretty average.delkins wrote:PG - Anderson
