Game 9, 2025-26: Lowell (12/6)
Game 9, 2025-26: Lowell (12/6)
The Rivah Hawks make their annual visit to Mullins, this one on Saturday at 4 PM.
UML is struggling this season with a NET well into the 300s. They're 3-6 on the season but 2 of the Ws have come at home against D-III schools. Their one win was over a fairly lousy Stonehill squad (NET 341).
Lowell opened up their season being a sacrificial lamb to the UConn Huskies. 110-47. Yikes.
They also dropped a home game to D-I newcomer New Haven.

Still, the moment you disrespect your opponent...
Gotta work on improving against these guys and go into the BC game next week playing well.

No scouting report needed on Lowell. They suck, and it's not that we "should" beat them, we "must" beat them.

We better beat the bag out of Lowell Tech.

I got an email yesterday from athletics promoting the BC game in Springfield. No mention of the Lowell game. I hope the team isn't looking ahead to BC and overlooks Lowell. They're down this year, but Duquette is a good coach and they beat our butts last year. I'm expecting a convincing win on Saturday against a 1-6 and 326 NET team.

Jay and Frank did the same thing in yesterday's JBF episode. Acknowledged that Lowell was next but said nothing else about them, and spent time talking BC. It's more interesting, for sure, but can't overlook the next game.Juice Stand wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 6:42 am I got an email yesterday from athletics promoting the BC game in Springfield. I highly doubt the team and coaching staff are looking past Lowell Tech.
With that said, the promotion of the following game is another example of this department and program not being able to promote anything that isn't a big game... they clearly aren't even bothering to try.

And, they have not promoted the "Big Game" well at all.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:08 pm I highly doubt the team and coaching staff are looking past Lowell Tech.

Looks like we have 6 reliable guys right now. Wimbley played a lot, but he doesn't look the part yet.
Donovan Brown looks impressive offensively whenever I see him. Not sure what's holding down his PT.
We desperately need Clerc and Luka to take a step forward.
Always nice to get a W.

Hats off to Jayden for his overall game, including 5/5 from the line. 15 points, 6 boards, 4 assists and 5 steals. That's a hell of an effort.

This team has potential to be good as the starters have talent. Expect a lot of MAC wins.Better mix and play together than last year. Need keep working on free throws. Very nice win against Lowell. Enjoying seeing them pass ball around. Things should go better as they keep playing more games as a unit.Great to see a couple players who can shoot the three.
Re: Game 9, 2025-26: Lowell (12/6)
^ We were 12/17, which is actually pretty good for us. DHS had a good comeback game with 12 and 9 as well as 4 blocks, but I think free throws are in his head. He was 0/2 and Danny was 1/4. I don't know why, but Danny just can't shoot from outside, including free throws. Everyone else was perfect from the line.
Maybe it's the Mulllns Center. Lowell was 13/27, which is even below our mediocre standards.

Both DHS and Danny seem to aim their shots, free throws and field goal attempts, instead of shoot them. Kind of like pitchers who aim their pitches. Shooting, especially free throws, should be all muscle memory just like pitching. Jayden seemed to figure out how to shoot, today instead of aim, as well. You can see it in the follow through/wrist.69MG wrote: Sat Dec 06, 2025 6:20 pm ^ We were 12/17, which is actually pretty good for us. Banks seems like he will be a 1st or 2nd team all MAC guy
Re: Game 9, 2025-26: Lowell (12/6)
I've said it before - I don't know why Brown doesn't play more. He and Placide would give us depth at the guard spots and keep Danny and Banks from getting worn down. Maybe he doesn't practice well and that is a red flag for Frank.DanaDingle3 wrote: Sat Dec 06, 2025 6:00 pm Looks like we have 6 reliable guys right now.
