Floyd you don’t get it. You don’t invest in the stadium you’re never winning games. Make a commitment to be a real FBS program and the wins will follow. Keep doing nothing to our high school level stadium built in the 60s and keep winning 0-2 games per year. The stadium upgrade isn’t fluff, it’s the new foundation for a real program going forward. Thorr gets it, that’s why URI is investing in their football stadium.Floyd wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:25 amWhat do you think is more influential, full shithole stadium or empty new one? Serious questionminutefanjsf wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:15 amNeed to spend money on it all. Players and stadium both need money. It’s chicken and egg. Players are turned off big time by playing in our shithole stadium no matter how much we pay them.Steve81 wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:02 am
Given our serious talent needs, like eldonabe plan of NOT spending the money on the stadium, but on NIL, recruiting, and whatever Thorr finds as issuesw one?.

Re: Ryan Bamford
I dont know, If you dont invest in players & staff first and start winning a few games, that shiny new stadium will be empty. Yes, we need a new stadium, but I'd think in today's world players come & go based on NIL $, that's why they jump around every year. Nobody wants to come here & get thumped every game. Just building a new stadium doesnt seem like a good first step to turning things around. Eventually, sure, but right now we gotta be competitive & win some games.

Re: Ryan Bamford
Frankly the sell on investing into a new stadium/major stadium renovations goes beyond football. Commencement is hosted there each year. Other teams (soccer, FH, Lax, etc...) can utilize it for games. You can host MA high school events like the Cage used to for bball. There's always the outdoor concert opportunity. It can and should be looked at as a multi-purpose facility. Trying to just sell fixing it as just a football thing with a team about to be 0-12 is a how we just get paved gravel as the major renovation.

Yeah I hear ya, and that makes perfect sense. But for football, they gotta start winning.

Re: Ryan Bamford
The stadium you play in and the game day atmosphere is a big deal to recruits. Build the stadium, recruits will come and wins will follow. It would be the premier venue in western Mass for outdoor concerts going forward.

Why not both? And if the answer is because UMass sucks, or Bamford is incompetent, we've heard that already. Keep it to yourself.
NIL and capital project funds should come from different pots, no? I imagine that NIL funding is from Script U, regular donations, and other program funding initiatives, whereas capital improvements are from a combination of state funds and big donors. Correct me if I'm wrong there. I don't actually know the inner workings, but that's my assumption.

It's sort of bananas that there wasn't a capital fund created years ago that people could donate to for this.

Re: Ryan Bamford
There's a petition out there to get him to resign or be fired. Not a lot of signatures, so not a great showing. Not sure when it was created.

I still think a billboard that says Fire Ryan right outside the campus is a better idea
Re: Ryan Bamford
Delaware wins a bowl game in their first season as FBS and we go 0-12 in our 14th.............Bam has to go...........10 years is long enough.

I want a state investigation into this. More than half division 1 AD’s don’t last 5 years and the overall average is 7. There has to be more to the story.ZooMass84 wrote: Sat Dec 20, 2025 8:25 am Delaware wins a bowl game in their first season as FBS and we go 0-12 in our 14th.............Bam has to go...........10 years is long enough.
