Game 3, 2025: at Iowa (9/13)

Post by eldonabe » Mon Sep 08, 2025 1:38 pm

OK then, Iowa is off to a fairly slow start as well.

My Tried and True Massey rating give Umass a 0% - ZERO PERCENT chance of winning this game and a predicted score of 42-3. We really cannot do much but run with that... ZERO PERCENT - ugh.

So, what is a positive outcome here?
- Scoring x number of points or more
- Giving up x points or less
- Covering the spread

Or something else?

I have a feeling Missouri is gonna be a complete annihilation (like Ohio state 70 - Grambling 0) but lets get through this week first.

You beat me to it. This, 1,000%. I could care less about the score of these next two games.

I will be there. Hoping for limited to no new injuries. I would love to see two scores and keep Iowa to 7 scores. Better punt and kick coverage and maybe some kick off returns for us.

Line is Iowa -34; consensus computer models is more like Iowa -37, so take the favorite.

Iowa's offense is a well-known joke but they should still cover simply by running the ball 50 times for 300 yards. Their QB Gronowski is like a 9th year senior (I remember him beating Holy Cross in the FCS playoffs several years ago when he was with South Dakota State) and basically just runs QB Power a million times a game, which is inappropriate for the Big 10 but will run over Umass.

I watched the Iowa/Iowa St game all the way through and Gronowski throws better than his stats show so I expect him to look pretty good against Umass. Their O-line is going to maul too. Thinking this is going to be a game that Iowa uses to get their offense rolling so they might not let off the gas.

Get out of there somewhat healthy and cash that check. Rest up on that bye week and do the same thing at Mizzou. I was hopeful for 2-2 and at worst 1-3 heading into MAC play. Can't believe we are going to be 0-4. The one bright spot is Temple does seem to be a decent team, just no excuse for that pathetic Bryant loss.

We are going to get destroyed at the line of scrimmage by those big old Iowa boys. Add to that our lack of pass rush and putrid secondary and this is going to be over quick. I hope we get out of there relatively healthy and with our spirits intact.

Not optimistic at all. Just want to see some coverage adjustments play to compensate for lack of quality players health.
I don't want any of the injured players rushing back till October. Get them health for MAC play.
From Minuteman Command X post.
Players listed OUT for Iowa by Harasymiak at least for now.

QB Brandon Rose
WR TY Harding
CB Malcolm Greene
WR Jake McConnachie
CB Bo Barnes
OL Sullivan Weidman
S Zeraun Daniel
DL Josh Nobles (season)
OL Zach Franks (season)

"let's just try to stay healthy...." That is Umass football 2025 in one succinct [almost] sentence.

The Steve's of the world can make all the excuses and silver lining observations that they want... Umass moved "up" into the worst conference in FBS which would lend one to believe that they will play some similarly bad programs. At this point, it looks like they may throw up a big fat donut this season against a schedule that is no more difficult (top to bottom) than their last 2 seasons.

It looks like the bar has been set for success this week (and in 2 weeks).... Don't get injured. Where is my Cleveland Indians meme of the two guys doing the Wave?
