Prep rally Friday night before the game.

A ton of information in the above POD cast: stadium, big ideas of tying it into the campus as Southwest dorms need replacing and connecting with a dining commons and so much more.

^sorry to go off track but what is wrong with the distance of the dining halls to the dorms?

I am trying to go to this game. I will give you and Steve Maz each 10 bucks or whatever is agreed upon for every point UMass wins by. Not a wager. My son wants to go the LSU/Clemson game so we'll see. i totally hope you are correct. Last UMass football game I went to was at Gillette.minutefanjsf wrote: Mon Aug 18, 2025 9:23 pmBased on Bajakian’s past, I can’t picture more than 35 points unless defense or return team scores. I think UMass wins this by 10. 31-21.

Glad they are publicizing the pep rally, etc. my daughter has shared a lot of the information about the gearing up to the first game. She is a senior in the band. They are doing their best to get kids into it. Look at the homecoming schedule, too. Events in downtown Amherst as well as all over campus.Steve81 wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 9:07 am Prep rally Friday night before the game.

Well…both of us will be in lot 11 prior to the kick. Stop by for some food. I’ll DM you a pic of where I assume we will be. New parking this year….part of my thinking on this game is Keeler playing the hide a QB game. He is a great coach. Making this move means he is looking for any edge.ZooMass84 wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 2:01 pmI am trying to go to this game. It sounds like Southwest dorms are past their end of life and will be torn down. The space closer to the stadium makes sense to build there new. They will need a new dining hall as UMass must build the new area out for over 5k kids first.inthescoop wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 1:53 pm ^sorry to go off track but what is wrong with the distance of the dining halls to the dorms?

UMass has updated the site and posted the stuff with traffic patterns, concessions in a Visitors Guide and will post here as well.

I can't picture GW tower with awesome views knocked down. But nothing is surprising in good ole Amherst

We used to shoot bottle rockets from the 14th floor - there was a hole in the common space window screen. They would go off about 15 feet from the ground... Much fun.chapter 11 wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 12:17 pm I can't picture GW tower with awesome views knocked down. But nothing is surprising in good ole Amherst

SW is unique. No doubt. Best notice was in my lobby indicating 2/3 of building was on academic probation and study hours woukd now be enforced. Gotta believe lots of those students are CEOs now

Highly doubt Southwest will be torn down anytime soon, even with new dorms built elsewhere. There remains a dorm housing crunch and as the school continues to grow its enrollment, they'll need every bed they can get.
I could see them replacing low-rise buildings one or two at a time, but the sheer # of rooms in the towers makes it very difficult to replace those without major infrastructure already in place elsewhere.
I'm not expecting a win Saturday... it's still a brand new coach, new system, new players, etc.... but I am hoping to see improved play. That would be a win in my book. Obviously rooting for a win, though.

Think the idea of tying to campus is not about southwest but building dorms on the rugby field by the stadiumSteve81 wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 9:07 am Prep rally Friday night before the game.
