2025-26 schedule

Post by 69MG » Mon Jun 09, 2025 12:47 pm

There doesn't seem to be a schedule thread yet let's get it going. My understanding is that you can play 31 games, including in-season tournaments. If that is accurate, I think the schedule is full after taking info from Mike's schedule page. This is what I think:

15 home games: 9 MAC, Sun Belt game, Albany, LeMoyne, CCSU, Lowell, Harvard
3 games at the Paradise Jam
BC in Springfield
FSU in Florida
Sun Belt away game
Providence, maybe neutral site?
9 MAC away games

That adds to 31. Anyone have any different info? First, that's a small # of home games. Also, very few road games at the opponents' gym other than the MAC games.

^. Just speculating about the reference to the low number of home games…….perhaps some of the neutral sites are designated UM “Home”.

^ I was thinking we used to have 16 or 17 home games at the Mullins. Looking back a few years, 15 or 16 is the norm so we're not out of whack as I suspected. The season ticket cost is the same, whether we have 15, 16 or 17 so maybe I'm looking at the cost per game.

Agree with perhaps the MassMutual game could be included with season tickets. Think 16 is the average year in and year out. Believe in 1997 we did have 18 games and season tickets costed $360 for the season ticket in 1997 dollars.

Granted there were a few less games, but 16 seems to be the average number of home games for a longtime, even with the high number of buy games. Buy games seemed to have been higher the past years.

Were ASU last season, or WV in 23-24, part of the season ticket package? This year's BC game is the same event, run by the Hoop HOF.

As far back as I can remember, only games at the Mullins were included in the season ticket package. As Mike said, these "neutral site" games are generally run by an outside entity.

Yeah, I thought so. Springfield has occasionally been used as an alternate home court, but it has been a while: 2011 with La Salle. Since then the games have been organized by Hoop Hall.

Springfield games used to be included as part of the season ticket package. Several game in Springfield during the Kellogg coaching era vs. Florida Gulf Coast, BYU, and Mississippi were part of the season ticket package. The tickets were went separate from the Mullins center tickets but they were included in the total cost.

^ This knocks us down to 30 games. I hope we can get to 31 without having to schedule UMass-Boston, but it's hard to find games this late in the year.

As it was in the A10, in-conference scheduling could matter a lot. I assume there will be 18 MAC games, so you get 6 teams home and away, 3 only home, 3 only away. In the A10, you didn't want those 3 only aways to be VCU, Dayton and SBU. Does the MAC try to schedule into rivalries? I'm not sure the A10 did, but it seems like UMass-URI was twice every year. Who are the MAC conference rivals? Seems like several schools in Ohio would be for each other, and maybe the Michigans?

I think I heard the MAC-Sun Belt is men's and women's, often (and logically) as double headers, which would make that a more attractive home game(s).

The other half of the double-header in Sunrise FL on 12/13 has been set. Defending national champ Florida will take on GW.

It's that time of year when we see other teams releasing their non-conf slates. We're never among that first batch. Patience.

In 2023, we saw the official announcement about the non-conf slate on August 3. Full schedule dropped on Sept 6.
Last year, it wasn't until September 4 when we even got the non-conf deets. Full schedule dropped on Sept 24.

I'm tracking everything I've seen, official or not

Gimme a shout if you've seen anything I missed.

Turns out that WiscyBusiness guy knows what he's talking about, as he had this almost a month ago.
