I don’t know what to expect. Frank sounds high on the team and sounds like a few of the new guys are beasts which will complement dudes like Sool and Curry. I’m - as usual - getting my hopes up.

This guy seems to have done his homework. He doesn't mention Nate, but other than that he's got a good handle on who we are.

Some interesting scores around the A10 last night:

VCU torched BC 80-55, and St. Josephs, who I think has the best player in the conference in Erik Reynolds, lost at home to CCSU. Brutal loss for St Joes in a year where they're expected to contend.

CCSU upgraded their talent level, are picked to win their conference and had Providence beat in the opener before a late rally. St Joes should definitely beat them at home if they are a good team but CCSU isnt a brutal loss this year

Fordham visits Seton Hall in a buy game and hits a buzzer beater for the 1-point win. Easily the best A10 win so far

You're probably right that CCSU is improved, but from a computer rankings standpoint even if they win their conference they're probably not going to crack the top 150 so that's a Quad 3 or 4 loss. My point is that with Erik Reynolds and a stacked backcourt, this is probably the best team they've had in a while, and best chance of making an at-large bubble case. Losing at home to CCSU hurts quite a bit.

I just watched a show on NESN called "A-10 Hoops Talk". It's hosted by Phil Martelli and another guy (not important). They talk about the A-10 and had interviews with Lou Roe, Jameer Nelon, David West and many other former players. It was interesting to hear many of the players talk about the value of playing for the same coach and school for 4 years and how it helped them mature, etc. They commented that in today's game most players don't get that benefit.

I highly recommend it. It's on again Saturday night at 10:30 on NESN Plus.

Looks like Rasheer Fleming from St. Joe's is getting love from NBA scouts and is predicted to be drafted. Not seeing any other players from the A10 getting the same type of respect at the moment.

The league continues to beat up on itself to 1-bid territory.

Two weeks ago, Bonaventure was 14-1 / 2-0, including a win over league-favorite VCU. Bona went to Duquesne as 2.5 point favorites today. Bonnies lost by 18, and are 1-3 in their last 4.

All the more reason why I'm 100% totally fine going to the MAC. The A10 is a 1-2 bid league, and this year was supposed to be more like 3 or 4 with Dayton and VCU, SLU bringing in Schertz and Avila, and maybe Loyola, St Joes or St Bonaventure. Not any more, back down to 1 bid unless someone other than VCU wins the tournament.

Akron (111 NET) and Ohio (151 NET) just played the other day and look at the student section for these very average basketball teams https://gozips.com/galleries/mens-baske ... 17-25/2670. UMass has to have some of the worst student support in the country. The overall basketball product is worse in that league, I'm not arguing that, but there are decent teams and good fan support. It will take time, but we will build rivalries and fun matchups over there.

Hard to believe that 6 teams have lower average attendance than us. A couple have small arenas, but the others don't.

To be fair, students are not on campus for a huge chunk of the season. Most students are done the second week of December and come back at the very end of January. The opponents and schedule, mostly noon Saturday and Wednesday night games vs CCSU, UMass Boston, UMass Lowell, etc.are not a marketing boon. There have been six games with students on campus, four without. The non student ticket sales are also down.
