Don't forget about the team's visit to Top Golf!
But I will take a 5-1 win.
I acknowledge fully that hockey is probably the toughest sport to announce. I would absolutely suck at it. I assume that’s a big part of the reason I’m not heard on the radio.
Donnie did a good job with play by play in my opinion. I don’t get why when he’s part of the broadcast he does color. The play by play guy they have now is good for spurts but is way too easily distracted by the color guy and they go off on tangents. The color guy likes to go on and on for paragraphs at a time during play and there just isn’t time for that during a hockey game. Too much is happening.
There’s times i think that it would be a pretty good podcast to learn about how Hrabal last season was one of the best hockey East goalies in spite of allowing five goals to BC or whatever it was they were talking about at one point. But when they’re talking about that stuff and I can hear skating and sticks hitting pucks and refs blowing whistles several times consecutively without them bothering to even tell me what zone the puck is in it’s frustrating. It would be fine if it was a TV broadcast cause then the viewer can see and they add that stuff. I don’t think they realize that when they are on the radio people listen to them to hear what is happening in this game currently-not about what happened in the past games or whatever stuff they feel like talking about off the ice.
I’ll also take the 5-1 win. Just wish I knew about what was happening during the game more than just every once in a while. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.
Leave the A-10!

jjmc85, I gave up trying to listen to radio the last few years and I can't always watch as I've stated. I think these guys try their hardest and I have no criticism for them, but Donnie was much better on play by play and I wish they could rope Brock back in to do some games. There was nothing to worry about listening to them; they'd go off on a tangent on something related to the game and get right back in time to let you know something important was happening on the ice. Donnie was not a typical play by play guy, he'd let Brock talk and good play by play guys allow that out of their analysts. Oh well I can only wish.

Pretty quiet on the hockey front. The sport that's ranked and has huge success the last several years. WTF. We are busy debating horrible football and a crappy stadium. Where is the enthusiasm for this hockey team The crowd tonight looks fair. I guess my concern is several claim the fans will come if we win. Basketball football etc. the hockey team is pretty damn good. Where are the fans?. You think football can succeed? Just throwing this out there but New England is hockey. We are good but we don't get a rabbid fan base like other schools. Just reading the New England vibe that cares only of the Pats the Celtics the Sox and the Bruins. All awesome but burys any real interest in college sports

Buzz seems like it's diminished season after season since the championship win

We had many scoring chances early in the game and couldn't put the puck past their goalie on the shots that we did put on net. We also missed the net on a bunch of quality chances. We had a 5 on 3 for a little over a minute and it wasn't very effective.
That being said, they scored 2 goals on 4 shots in period 2. Not the best night for Hrabel, but he didn't get a lot of help from his D.
We need a win at their place tomorrow or interest will most likely take a major hit.

When UMass scored 1:08 in….i thought here we go…but SH took it too ‘em until midway through the 3rd, when UMass seemed to wake up. Then they ran out of time.
Need to win at their place tonight, but it’s early and I’m not overly concerned at this point. There are a lot of new players and they’re figuring out how to play together. At least that’s how it looks to me.
I was impressed by the student turnout!

^ Student turnout was impressive, but disappointed by the mass exodus after period 2.
Concerned with losing to a team the level of SH.
The experience factor is limited to the defense as the top nine (9) forwards last night are the same as top nine (9) from last November…….Source UVM Nov 11 line sheet.

Defense did not earn any gold stars either way. One tell about this season's offense was when Carvy put out five forwards on the first power play and then six on the open net situation at the end. To paraphrase a famous UMass alum: Morrow and Ufko aren't coming through that door.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

In a "Bizarro World" scenario, 2 of the 3 goals were scored by defensemen not named Morrow or Ufko. However, there were far too many missed assignments on D, both from the freshmen and the vets. I think it was their 3rd goal where they had a guy camped out at the blue line and we had nobody within 20 feet of him. That led to a far too easy goal.

I was surprised and disappointed to see the students leave early too.
Given that Carvel is known for the defensemen he has produced over the years I’m confident that the new guys will improve.

Very nice indeed.
1st 2 career goals for Dell‘Elce
UMass transfer, Mikey Adamson, scored what proved to be yesterday’s game winner, and SH’s only goal today.
