My take is some big donor(s) wanted to donate a large amount of money towards the UMass NIL mission. Maybe they didn't want the MRC to touch their money for a myriad of reasons. With the rule changes, the donor(s) are now able to give the money to UMass, to give to the players. This set Corey off and he went scorched earth on Bamford and the football program online and in the newspapers. Hopefully with the NIL donations coming in house there will be more scrutiny on how the money is used, and people will feel more willing to donate.

We will provide updates and background during our member meeting on Tuesday at 7 PM. In contrast to MRC, Mass Co currently enjoys its strongest-ever working relationship with the University, along with robust membership and financial stability. We are committed to remaining a stable and active presence, and we look forward to continuing our positive and growing impact on both the UMass basketball and football programs. As NCAA/NIL regulations evolve, we will adapt and collaborate with the University in whatever way, format, and role best benefits the programs and our members.

Pat, From the time you and I first discussed the NIL on twitter, as just a far out idea(thanks again for the FCM Swag). I knew you had a vision for a collective at UMass basketball that would be run as professional as your business.
