Going to grab my tickets now!!!
Re: 2023-24 Season
We've been spending a lot of time today talking about possible transfers on the men's side. The fact that Verdi uses so few players has to cause some issues with the players who hardly ever see the court. I have no clue as to why people don't play, but a couple of names jump out at me.
Fair and Brooks are the ones who come to mind for me. Fair had a great freshman season last year at St. Joes but only got 9 minutes a game in 18 games. Brooks played a bit last year but not much more this year.
I'm pretty sure Dabo and Harden have been hurt for 2 years and I wonder how much longer they will stay.
Anyhow, it's worth thinking about when you consider that Syd and Ang are technically seniors and could opt to spend their last year somewhere else.

Sydney has confirmed returning.
Re: 2023-24 Season
I thought Laila Fair would get more minutes. Last year against St. Joe's I remember thinking wow she's pretty good. When she transferred in, I thought we got a steal. I hope she sticks around69MG wrote: Tue Mar 07, 2023 10:21 pm I have no clue as to why people don't play, but a couple of names jump out at me.

Agree with Floyd. I was very impressed with Fair when she was at St Joes and was astatic that we got her to transfer. Hopefully she stays. With her size and small forward skills she should get some of the Breen minutes next year.

If you look at coaches style of play all the years he has been with us he has limited the amount of players in each game and has terrific results so why are some of you questioning his style of coaching?

He's had success with Sam Breen being here, yes. We shall see how next year plays out, but hopefully someone like Fair will be able to step up.

No one is questioning his style just concerned that some of the good talent will leave with minimal playing time.Berkman wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 2:37 pm If you look at coaches style of play all the years he has been with us he has limited the amount of players in each game and has terrific results so why are some of you questioning his style of coaching?

Or, if you are borderline on likely playing time, might as well sit the bench on a team in a multi-bid league and at least have a better chance of experiencing the Big Dance.

A source familiar with the situation tells @TheNextHoops that UMass sophomores Alexeya Brooks and Aisha Dabo are in the transfer portal. The 5'9 Brooks played in parts of 27 games this season, while the 6'1 Dabo has not seen the court in her two years in Amherst.
Re: 2023-24 Season
Anyone know what Dabo's injury was? 2 yrs is a long time to be out with an injury. Maybe overcrowded at the small forward spot?

Kiko - any idea how many recruits they have coming in? Sam, Destiny and now Alexeya & Aisha give us 4 open roster spots.... sorry if I've missed anyone else.

Three girls have entered the portal, Gabriel, Dabo & Brooks. With the class coming in, not big losses IKO.
