Game 31 (2015-16): Northeastern
Game 31 (2015-16): Northeastern
UMass hosts Northeastern on Friday, 12 February @8:30 PM
Received an email from UMass athletics letting me know this was the "Maroon Out" game. First 2,000 fans get free t shirts! The next day the local charities will get 1,700 maroon t shirts.
Good thing the seats are maroon because the game will be televised. Maybe the recruits won't notice.

On MASN, for those of us in the Baltimore/DC area.

^ ^ & ^
Unfortunately the version of NESN here in NC seems to be different t5han the one you get up in MA. Time Warner does not carry MASN.

Why does Northeastrn always look like they are on the PP?
Scoreless but only 10 min in and they are hanging on by their finger tips.

I'm out. This team is sloppy and careless with the puck and plays with no grit at all. I can't even tell what they are trying to do.

0-5. They couldn't pay me enough to do Bamford's job. Save for a couple of sports, the athletic program is pretty much a disaster.
Bamford has erased McCutcheon

We are not competitive with a decent Hockey East team. There were a few bright moments in last nights game when we managed to keep the puck in their end of the ice, pressure them a bit; but for the most part NU was dominant. They were faster, more skilled, etc. I don't know if it's the coaching or the quality of players we can recruit. Maybe both?

We need 4 years of much much better recruiting to turn this thing around.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

I think it is both. The team is very "undersized" Sometimes it looked like men against boys out there. I know there are 9 freshman but jeez.baseline47 wrote:We are not competitive with a decent Hockey East team. The offense has no flow either, which to me is coaching. I don't know what they are trying to do. They aren't a dump and chase team, obviously, but they have trouble getting the puck into the zone by passing it or carrying it also. Once they get into the zone it's one pass and shoot. No puck movement at all.
Reminds of of the hoops team.

Wouldn't hurt, but UConn who still does not have a full number of scholarship players and is in the second year of hockey east is sitting 4 points ahead of UMass with 2 games in hand and has allowed 35 less goals. Yes UMass beat them for the only two hockey east wins this year but you can't say its better players needed given what UConn is doing in its transition years.njumass08 wrote:We need 4 years of much much better recruiting to turn this thing around.
