Best of luck to him in his decision to transfer to seton hall. Hopefully it works out for him in terms of graduating college and success thereafter. I could care less about seton hall or derrick being gay blah blah. spare me the drama.

I never thought I would find a Rudy more annoying than the Notre Dame version.

I was wrong.

Rudy wrote:Show me the constant updates and fawning over Javorn Farrell or Demetrious Dyson. You cant. No one cares about players for other teams on a UMass board.

Also, there is a difference between a kid leaving a program because for mutually agreeable reasons and a kid just quitting. Some kids will never see the court. Some kids cant cut it academically. And some want to chase their NBA dreams and then blame every team in the NCAA for being homophobic because nobody wanted him.

The great irony is that DG also quit on the gay rights movement. Its clear that DG thinks he was railroaded from big programs for being gay and its clear that he thinks it will hurt him going to the NBA. So he quit being a gay right role model for other gay athletes because of his delusions of grandeur. Just like he quit on UMass, his teammates and DK.

So many people looking for a reason to scapegoat the Catholic school for his silence. But there is no evidence of that at all. So if you want to find evidence of bigotry and intolerance. Look there.

I find it laugh out loud funny that in the same article that the only coach that wanted him acknowledges that he cant shoot, Gordon is talking about how he is going to kiss his boyfriend in front of the cameras on draft night.

By the way, he is 23 years old. Stop treating him like a naïve high school kid.
Rudy, call me crazy but I want everyone I know to be happy and successful, even when they don't live up to my expectations - like you, for example. I don't cut Derrick any slack just for being gay. Heck, I even want straight people to be happy and successful.
Reminds me of a Rumi quote: "Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates. At the first gate, ask yourself, 'Is it true?' At the second, 'Is it necessary?' At the third gate ask, 'Is it kind?'" Of course if we all followed this we might have to close down the message board.

^The Craig Ferguson Corollary: Does this need to be said? Does this need to be said by me? Does this need to said by me now?

The DG revisionist whitewashing continues. Direct quote:

"During the recruiting process, a number of schools didn't want me because I'm gay," Gordon said. "To me, that's blatant homophobia. At the end of the day, no coaches will ever admit that they don't want me because I'm gay and there's baggage that comes with the attention.

"Honestly, it caught me off-guard. It really hurt. It had me stressing, crying. I was starting to lose hope. I felt like I was being treated like an outsider, like I didn't belong in the NCAA. I couldn't believe it because I'm a good player and they were looking at the opposite — something that doesn't mean anything with my (sexuality). … 'Nah, not the gay guy.' "

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nc ... /27344373/

So the ONLY that wanted him was the Catholic school that people are now accusing of censoring Gordon without any evidence, while its the hundreds of other non-Catholic schools that are homophobic according to Gordon's warped perspective.

Derrick "Melodrama" Gordon, always the victim. Hey kid, its because your not that good. Stop playing the victim and casting aspersions on the world.

^ oh yes poor DG every D1 program didn't want to give him a free ride to play basketball and according to DG that was only because they feared him because of his sexual orientation.... it had nothing to do with his talent level ... so glad he's at seton hall and looking forward to watching him have another all american season and leading seton hall to the big east championship. :D

Good first game for Gordon tonight vs. Dartmouth a 84-67 win for SH. He played the second most minuets despite coming off the bench and had as many three-pointers tonight (1) as he had in his entire career at Umass.
Final line for him. Def a solid night.

DG's game doesn't really fit with the style of play we exhibited yesterday, but man, we could use another tough defender and a guard who rebounds. Frankly, Dyson would have been nice to have too.

^ I was thinking yesterday that Dyson would have been nice to keep, I think he'd do well off the bench as an energy guy, undersized PF. He's got decent size and good athleticism that he was a pretty good rebounder. That being said, he's probably not a long-term solution for anything.
