That was Eddie Montavani, correct?
Original song was "By the long road," a Russian romantic folk song (1925 1st recording).
Gene Raskin wrote a very very loose interpretation in English, which we know.
Mary Hopkin recorded it in 1967 or 69.
(More than we needed to know but there it is.
I was referring to the owner of Barsi's at the time..

Don't forget to thank Mark Twain for the motto.philosopher wrote:As the song goes, "Those were the days, my friend...." Barsie's with 15 cent drafts and 25 cent hot dogs. A popular motto: "don't let your schooling interfere with your education."69MG wrote:It was 21 in 1968. 4 of us drove to just over the line in NY to buy booze and we got stopped by a Hadley cop on Route 9. He made us empty the car and put everything we bought on the curb. He then gave us a warning and "confiscated" our purchases. A long ride with a very sad ending.

Could be worse. I was a freshman in the fall of 1986, right after Vermont raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 on June 1. But they grandfathered in everyone who was 18 already at that point. So Flat Street and all the clubs/bars in Brattleboro used to advertise in the Collegian. What a great idea ... drive up to Vermont, get plastered legally and then careen down 91 back to campus.
Wait, who were we supposed to be talking about in here?
Wait, who were we supposed to be talking about in here?
I wrote this ... it's gotta be true.

Same same - that was a tough and crooked ride home many times..... Lucky to be alive and without a DUI on my record

DeJon Jarreau & Brison Gresham are down to a final four as UConn, Seton Hall, Auburn & Creighton remain in the mix
Re: KAEO DeJon Jarreau (2016)
^ I don't really know why some are so up in arms about the idea of them going to UConn. Auburn & UConn however would probably be an epic disaster for them. Check out these quotes...

UConn: “I know how they let you rock out and play your game as long as you play defense.
Auburn: “It is the SEC. They told me that their point guard would be gone by next year so when I come in it is going to be basically me to run the show.
Seton Hall: “They have a good, young team. They let their guys rock, too, and let their guys play.

I always like to let players play their game. Why coach?
Re: KAEO DeJon Jarreau (2016)
Holy S**t! Didn't he learn enough last season about what happens when they "let him rock"?

I knew that Oklahoma would not be selected as they just Trae Young. Auburn is the new inclusion here and an interesting one. Mustapha Heron has announced he is returning to Auburn, and he demands the ball a lot. They have a lot of talented big men so I don't see Brison getting too much playing time there. Jarreau can start but playing against schools like Florida and Kentucky, oh man, as much as I like his game, if he doesn't mature on the court, he would be a turnover machine against them.
Angel Delgado declaring for the draft means they need big men. To be honest, on paper, the best fit is Seton Hall. However, I do believe that they are leaning towards Creighton which would be the second fit. UConn would be pretty puzzling, especially after leaving UMass.

I am not sure what "let you rock means" when it comes to playing basketball. Guess I am old. I assume it means "AAU Ball played with guys that can grow beards"

Let's just compare these quotes to what the transfers are saying that McCall is bringing in. It shows exactly the direction the program is headed and I couldn't be happier.

Re: KAEO DeJon Jarreau (2016)
Creighton was the leader from the start as Preston Murphy has become the transfer king but after reading these comments it sounds like they may be looking elsewhere. McDermott is a little more structured, as is Omaha, then what they may want. If you are not a UConn fan then you might want DJ going there as their pg of the future. Losing Ashton-Langford, who is a tremendous pg and ending up with DJ, who is not, is a bad trade off for our friends in StorrsNilesGold wrote:^ I don't really know why some are so up in arms about the idea of them going to UConn.
