If we have anything like the last game in student turnout we'll be fine. :D
Do you know if students are going to be let in free of charge? In some years, Hockey East required a small fee for students. If so, I’d hope Athletics would cover it so students can attend for free. The last home series 11 years ago was crazy thanks to the students. IIRC, it was the beginning of Spring Break and thousands of students stayed in the area to go to the games.
It was freaking awesome. Home vs Maine right? I'm pretty sure we swept them either the weekend before or 2 weekends before the opening round of the tournament too. Then they ended up getting revenge and knocking us out of the tournament with a shot to go to the frozen 4. 2 NHL goalies going head to head in that game Quick vs Ben Bishop - I don't remember the name of the other Maine goalie we played in either one or both of those end of season series. Don't know if Bishop was the starter and was hurt or if the other dude was the starter or what but Bishop was nasty in that "Elite 8" game.

The Maine backup goalie was Dave Wilson. I believe the chants of “Willllllson! Succckkkksss” are still echoing around the roof of Mullins. Dominated four games in a row.

I was in Rochester for the NCAA quarterfinal game. Quick vs. Bishop in a matchup of future quality NHL goalies. Maine had a great power play that season. They goaded opponents into taking dumb penalties and capitalized on the PP. UMass fell right into that trap.

^ That's it! Of all the athletic events I attended from '06-'10, I have never felt like the crowd had more of an impact than it did against poor Dave Wilson.

Yup that was my senior year. Saw those game at the Mullins and made the trip to Rochester. That was the best 2-3 weeks of umass hockey! That win against Clarkson in OT is still one of my favorite live sports moments/games.

I think it is safe to say that everyone's expectations for this season have either been met or exceeded at this point. Even if it comes to an end at Northeastern next weekend, what a great building block for the future this year has been.

Far, far exceeded. We have played a few more games, but only 4 teams in Hockey East have won more games than UMass this year. from 5 wins to 17 wins, the biggest one year improvement in the history of the program. Just short of miraculous what has happened to UMass hockey.

+1. Can't wait to see what next year brings. Hoping for another strong showing this weekend.
