Gordon is a good team defender. He's active, and has good anticipation to get his hands on dangerous passes.

I think he was a good but not great on-ball defender. Better athletes have no trouble getting by him. He is strong and can stay in front of guys that don't have really good first steps. I think we have seen enough of him to conclude that he can't stay with really good offensive players. So I wouldn't call him a "defensive stopper" by any means.

^ That's a very good/accurate description of his defensive abilities.

He had a knack for getting his hand on cross court passes for steals. But he also had a knack of missing layups and an alarming rate. I'd be shocked if his scoring average PPG goes up.

I think DG figured that he would be in high demand once he left Umass. The fact that he is a 2 guard who cannot shoot a lick from the outside, made him not highly sought over. He is using homophobia as an excuse, for the lack of interest, rather than his very average play.

It's okay to have an opinion about what went down with DG but to pass it off as a fact when none of us really knows is a bit much

When it comes to homosexuality, Seton Hall apparently hates the sin but loves the sinner — especially if he can shoot from the top of the key.

But, of course, he can't!

You would think that under the circumstances and given his aspirations to get paid to play basketball (not to mention that he only has one more year to accomplish this), he would not want that kind of distraction going on around him. I am starting to lean to the side of self promotion with this kid - all sizzle and no steak.

I am officially betting that it can't be too long after this next season ends that he is peddling a book about his life.

It's really an odd ending to the DG saga here at UMass.. I think he received a ton of support both inside and outside of the campus community. I am far from the correct person to speculate about who is mentoring him and what they are saying throughout the last year + of his life. All I can say is that it looks like he is more about self promotion than being a part of a team.

The biggest indication for this (beyond comments made by others ie Chaz when he announced his decision to transfer) was the photo's from graduation. Maxie and Cady had their picture taken together and DG took a selfie.

Proud of DG that he was able to be himself for his final year at UMass, proud of the UMass community for supporting him. Just wish this all would've played out a little better.
