Disagree. He didn't rebound. His offense is always unpredictable, so I agree there. He also didn't defend well yesterday. There were many plays where he was too tight off ball where if he had been in proper guarding position, he would have been in the passing lane. He literally could have deflected at least four passes to the corner in the first half, that he didn't see because he was too tight. I expect him to rebound and play defense. I'd love his offense to be consistent, but it ain't. He played beneath his capabilities on the glass and defensively yesterday.inthescoop wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:17 pm DHS played to the capabilities that he has played all season.. I think we should quit the mentality that he's some next level superstar.

^He had 6 points, 1 rebound the game before against Akron. I guess my expectations for DHS are not as high anymore these days, offensively and defensively, and to me he has become an energy guy, not a difference maker.. and I get your point because your expectations are higher

Rumor is he is making 1/4 of a million. He can't be an energy guy. Before he got paid he produced much more.inthescoop wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 4:08 pm ^He had 6 points, 1 rebound the game before against Akron. Didn't someone on here say he is getting $500k and a car. DHS relies on his athleticism.. his fundamental skills have not progressed the way you would hope for. He can jump over any player for a rebound but I thought from Jr to Sr year he would have learned to use his body better down low, better positioning before the shot, etc.. the way Bettiol posts up down low using and positioning his body versus DHS is a huge differenceminutefanjsf wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 4:11 pmRumor is he is making 1/4 of a million. Re: 2025-26 Season
I noticed this yesterday, but felt it was due to just how handsy and grabby the Miami players were with him as he worked for position to get the ball. He did seem to let it get to him early on. I think he figured it out a bit as the game went on.inthescoop wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:17 pm Bettiol played frustrated antsy basketball yesterday, he is at his best when he allows the game to slow down controlling the tempo in the paint and then he is at control.
Yep, still can't figure out what happened here... and with Luca once again being a liability out there, it's even more amplified.inthescoop wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:17 pm Clerc went in for the first time in the game with 4 minutes left? That's like when he put Placide in the game for the first time with a minute left couple games back. No logic to the madness.

Re: 2025-26 Season
Several posts back, someone talked about recruiting. This should probably go in the 2026 recruiting thread, but here goes. Once we get past Leo, we are horribly weak at the 5. Luka and Clerc have each given us a few good games, but many more poor games. Neither of them are the answer for next year.
Supposedly, we have Sylla coming in from Prep School in Maine. I have no idea how good he is, but he will be a freshman and unless you are Tre Mitchell, you won't be a valuable piece of the puzzle. We need 2 more centers for next year and I hope both are from the portal with D1 experience. I don't envision both Luka and Clerc returning. Maybe 1 of them will.
