Ryan Bamford Fired?

Strongly against firing Ryan Bamford! Strongly dislike us not going all MAC in 2021. But his past hires have been generally good. While concerned more about football, glad our AD not only went out and hired Frank Martin, but bumped his pay to 2M and $$ to BB assistants to ensure basketball will always be important. Not all his other hires have been great, but nobody is perfect.

I’m kind of ambivalent toward Bamford. I’m not a huge fan but I don’t think he’s as bad as people say either. He got Frank and Carvel here so it’s hard for me to say his entire tenure has been awful. I’m hoping he’s learned, you need to hire an alpha dog that has had success as an HC running his own football program. We don’t need any more coordinators learning how to be a head coach on the job or almost 70 somethings that haven’t been a head coach in 20 years.

His father passed away a couple of years ago. Those coattails are wearing thin. He has to go.

I am by no means a Bamford fanboy, but I think at this juncture with our transition into the MAC it would be foolish to release him. I think he deserves the opportunity to see how things pan out at this point in our program.

Just as foolish as the decision to fire DB and likely need over 45 new players as they enter the MAC?

Yup. That means fire Bamford. Go all the way. Firing DB only, is half way/half assed.go full throttle and blow the whole thing up.

As things stand right now, there are no plans to move on from Bamford, and he will look to hire the 3rd coach in his tenure with UMass
