FSU is who we thought they were.... if the opposing team can dictate tempo. speed up the game. and convert on primary and second break offense, FSU is very mediocre because they can't efficiently score the basketball. If you want to go toe to toe in a half court slug fest (assuming comparable talent level), you are going to get beaten up, but still may survive given their ineptness on offense.
Virginia is beating the bag out of them in the first half.

The problem with this analysis is that Florida and Michigan are two of the slowest tempo teams in D1 as is UVa. Minnesota is considerably quicker than those three but is not a fast tempo team. All of FSU's wins against decent competition (VCU, Charlotte and UMass) are against high tempo teams. The Camby Man Can wrote:FSU is who we thought they were.... if the opposing team can dictate tempo. speed up the game. and convert on primary and second break offense, FSU is very mediocre because they can't efficiently score the basketball. VCU, Charlotte, and UMass, all teams that rely on playing with tempo didn't do so against FSU, and were the reason why they struggled.
At least from the first 24 minutes of the Virginia game, Virginia is clearly dictating tempo and getting pretty good looks.
And I would argue with your premise that Michigan plays slow (cant speak to Florida) at least from the 3-4 games I've seen them play this year, I would argue that they push the ball up the floor, but also run good half court O if they don't get a good luck in the secondary O.

UVA completely controls the pace of the game... really gives FSU an assbeating.
LSU gets beaten by URI at home... URI looked pretty good today, Controlled the glass, pretty surprising given LSU's size. URI overcomes a ton of turnovers due to pretty efficient shooting.
Wish LSU pulled out, but I guess not a huge deal.

4-6 OOC, 6-2 for the A10.
A better day for our conference foes, as URI gets a big bump and Dayton as well, both with big road wins at decent SEC schools, A10 finishes with a winning record against the SEC, and a strong OOC performance overall.
LSU loss hurts us. We have some pressure to get some more quality wins in conference. We are fortunate to have SLU at home, and a big VCU game on a Friday in front of a big crowd. I'm told that's a Top Seller.
Nebraska @ Ohio St. (3) -- OSU blows open tight game and wins going away.
Ohio @ UNC-Asheville -- Bobcats down big most of the game, rally to take the lead in the last few minutes and win by 9. Nice job on the road.
Youngstown St @ Green Bay -- Tight game at the half, then Rodgers hits Cobb for a couple touchdowns and YSU goes down big.
Elon @ Western Carolina --Road game, so it wasn't going to be easy, but Elon wasn't competitive. Our challenge in our game down there will be more the circumstances, not the opponent.
Clemson @ BC -- Clemson hangs on for the road conference win. Going on the road ain't easy.
Virginia @ Florida St -- UVA shuts down cold shooting FSU. Not a really big deal for us.
Colorado St. @ New Mexico --New Mexico holds off the Rams is a decent game. Go Lobos.
San Diego @ BYU -- San Diego assumes the Missionary position, and takes a beating. Signs of life from the Cougars.
Denver @ St. Joseph's -- Hawks rally to win by 1 at home.
Cornell @ St. Bonaventure -- Bonnies roll. A win up there won't be easy, usually isn't.
Richmond @ Florida (12) -- Richmond plays their best game of the year, dictating tempo and hanging in. Tie game until last 3 mins, when bad possessions and shaky calls go Florida's way, and the Gators pull away to win by a misleading margin.
Lasalle @ Penn -- Lasalle shows up and blows Penn's doors off.
Yale @ St. Louis -- St. Louis beats Yale, which stinks.
URI @ LSU -- Huge win for Rhody, damaging to us as LSU RPI takes a hit.
George Mason Road game, so not sure expecting a win was fair. But it was never really close until a late and fruitless run. GMU lucky Duquesne is around...
Dayton @ Ole Miss -- Flyers with a HUGE win for their profile. Can't be overstated, this was a swing game for their at large hopes. They go into conference play feeling great, with a good resume, and favorable early schedule in the A10.

Light Sunday. Football takes center stage, at my house.
Providence @ Villanova (11) Tough one for the Friars. Nova has lots of weapons. They aren't particularly strong down low, however, so maybe Providence's bigs can get some work done. 7:00pm Fox Sports1
Lots of other games of interest, as has been mentioned. I don't think we deserve more votes based on our performance, but that's not really how it works. Win, and advance when those around you lose.

I'm actually really pleased that Elon appears to have really flopped this year and that they appear to be in disaster-mode at this point. I had been told that they were going to be deceptively tough this year and was very worried about that as a road game. I now am far less worried about them as an opponent. I still hate the timing of the game (sandwiched between a pair of in-conference road games), but I'm much less worried about the opponent. I'm also comforted that they have a game against Davidson two days before they play us, so it won't be like they have a ton of time to prepare for us. I'm hoping that's a game where we can have some fun and use our superior athleticism. Shit, maybe it ends up being a welcome respite from the grind and physicality of the A10 season. Might also give us some mojo/confidence before what could be a huge Richmond game.
