if it weren't for the idiotic sign up procedure on this board, i would have been a member/casual poster a long time ago. really, the membership process here probably stifles a lot of good discussion, particularly with fans of other teams.

Kansas vs. Florida is a good one to keep an eye on. Kansas wins and it could threaten our existing #1 RPI (relax everyone, yes, I know it means little right now, just making a point). But Florida losing likely means they slip past us in the rankings.
Florida wins, and Kansas will likely sag a few spots down in the rankings, prob not enough for us to pass them (assuming we win NIU), but more than likely dropping Kansas' RPI.
The problem is that with the only game this week on Saturday, I think we all need something to keep ourselves busy.

I second (or third) this.. the process to sign up is cumbersome but well worth keeping the riff-raff away.Chris20 wrote:Please, the fact that someone just started posting is by no means an indicator that they haven't been following or supporting the team. Mike is tight on new signups to keep the moron factor to a minimum. There are plenty of bigtime UMass fans who aren't active here. Dozens and dozens, I'd say.

Not a class move by eldonbabe to snark about bandwagoneers.
Also, not a class move by circumpolar to rip Mike for the sign-up process. How difficult can it be if BYU fans managed to get in here no problem?
That said, welcome. If you're not a dick and you know your stuff, you'll do just fine here. I remember catching some of the same shit eight years ago. Eight years later and, well, I'm the same enforcer of message board manners that I would have derided to no end at the beginning.
I don't question your fandom. I have lots of die hard friends not on here.

Mike's signup process is what it is to avoid bots, fake and dual accounts. It's fine as it is.
What Mike needs to do is have moderators who can help him with this. He has people that help him with the Wiki, maybe a few of them would be willing to help him moderate the board as well.

Picking up the thread where we discussed the fantasy outcome of 33-0 and the assumed #1 seed/top seed that would produce. Marty was baffled that I questioned the assumption that we would get a #1 seed in that utopian scenario. My thinking goes like this. It's quite possible that we won't have even a single win over a top 25 team. (None of our opponents are in the top 25 right now.) Would you seed a team with a perfect record against this type of competition over a team with say, two or three losses, but also victories over two or three top 25 or even top 10 teams? I wouldn't.
