UMass announced a home exhibition game, Saturday 10/25, 1 PM, against Rhode Island College. RIC is a D-III team in the Little East, along with UM-Boston.

Exhibitions we've hosted in the recent past have not been on streaming video. Not expecting that to change this year, but I'm not positive.

I think I remember streaming for Westfield State.

I hope they stream it so we can get a look at the players.

Good memory! I looked back and you're right.

The last two I looked at, Western CT in 2023, and AIC in 2022, were not streaming.

Our Final Four team, easily argued to be the best that UM has ever assembled, lost to one of those teams.

CBS Sports Network revealed their coverage plans, and we'll be on twice:
Jan 6 (Tue) at Akron, 6 PM start
Jan 23 (Fri) at Buffalo, 7 PM start. This was slated to be on 1/24, but apparently the league OK'd moving up a day to get the coverage.

Looks like more games could potentially get picked up by the ESPN family of networks, or CBS SN. Seems the MAC and those networks have a little flex scheduling agreement. Three week notice in advance of changes in dates or times.

We have 3 games coming up that we have to win, and we should win: Albany, LeMoyne and CCSU. Both Albany and CCSU are picked near the top of their conferences and LeMoyne is not good. CCSU beat us last year. 4 players scored in double figures against us, but none of the remain.

CCSU has no size. One guy 6'9 and 3 guys 6'8 so we won't be facing 7'4, 6'10 and 6'10 like we did tonight. Albany has some size but they are all unproven. Banks went for 21 and 24 the two times they played last year.

I'm not saying the Albany and CCSU games will be easy, but we need to show that we can win these types of games.

My goal for the OOC is:

- Win the next 3 convincingly, building cohesion and chemistry.
- Play well in the USVI. Don't have to win the whole thing, but go 2-1 and be competitive in the loss.
- Come out firing on all cylinders heading into the Harvard, Lowell, BC, FSU stretch and go 3-1.

That's 11 games prior to Kent St. I'm not going to count UM Boston. I want to see an 8-3 record. Probably not realistic, but I don't care, that's what I want to see from Frank in his 4th year here. Ryan Bamford told me "expect to win", so I'm going to expect to win.

The MAC and Sun Belt have agreed on the scheduling for the February 7 games.
We go to Coastal Carolina, currently 248 in the NET.

We faced them once before, back in 1988
https://umasshoops.com/wiki/doku.php?id ... l_carolina

1 PM start

Coastal plays their games in the HTC Center in Conway SC. Good vibes for us, as that was the site of the Myrtle Beach Invitational in 2022, which we won.

This seems like a fair matchup for us. They are a .500 team and their SOS is 336 compared to ours at 229. Their best win was beating St. Joes in Philly.

Coastal got absolutely ravaged at Illinois State, 94-42, in late November. A D-3 school held ISU to a narrower margin.
