Agree, that was not a good sequence. I remember thinking to myself, what the hell are they rushing shots for? I would have thought the bench would have made it clear to take the last shot, especially the 2nd time tho. Communication seemed to be missingNilesGold wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 11:28 am 1. The end of the 1st half, SJU scores with :23 left, UMass races up the court, instead of holding for the last shot Diggins takes a 3 with :16 left and misses. SJU proceeds to turn it over, UMass races up court and Curry takes another 3 with :07 left, SJU get the rebound and proceeds to get a dunk to close out the half.
UMass failed to hold for the last shot not once, but twice. Just utterly terrible decision making from your starting backcourt.

First half the offense is on the other end of the court.Floyd wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 12:51 pmAgree, that was not a good sequence. I believe he took a 3 pointer from the same side as the benches, and wasn't that far away, no? Someone should have an idea of the clock. Whatever, it wasn't a great sequence to end the half

No it wasn’t a good sequence. My point was we were shooting in front of the St. Joe’s bench at the end of the half, no real way to communicate there.Floyd wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 3:45 pm I believe he took a 3 pointer from the same side as the benches, and wasn't that far away, no? I didn't see the game so I can only make a few general observations.
3 of our starters went 1/20 for a total of 3 points. You'd have to look pretty hard to find a D1 team with this stat that ever won a game.
As much as I love Jayden for his hustle, the team needs scoring and he isn't the answer.
I change my mind almost every game as to who I want to get 25 minutes at center, Shahid or Malek. If Shahid could improve his rebounding, he would be my choice. I think his offense could improve, but he just doesn't grab enough boards. Malek doesn't give us any rim protection.
Put me in the "I'm glad we have Rivera" camp. He's become a better all-around player as the season has progressed and he hustles 100% of the time when he's on the floor. An underrated aspect to his game is the number of fouls he draws. He gets guys in foul trouble, and he helps get the other team to 7 fouls a lot.
So I'll go along with an earlier suggestion of Shahid, DHS, Rivera, Curry and Sool as the starters.

The Hawks' Rasheer Fleming went first pick in the second round (31 overall). He was A10 First Team this season, and in this 12/31 game against us he put up 16 & 6 before fouling out after just 21 minutes.
