I see more articles than videos. Maybe I'm not seeing something. Not sure who he is in the video, can only guess.

I'm perplexed by the Athletic Dept. silence - even after the signings of Curry and Haskins-Sanford - and by the lack of media coverage (for locals that means the Gazette) - not to say fanfare. Is Frank being cautious - even vengeful toward a fan base pointing fingers at him over all the talent lost to the transfer portal - and seeking not to raise expectations too high?

Does anybody else think those latest signings -on top of Cohen, Majok and a promising incoming fresh class - merit some public attention and press coverage?

I don't think Frank is being vengeful, I think he just blocks out the non fans and is focusing on building his team. On paper it looks like a nice group of talent, size, and depth. The frontcourt is the more experienced for sure, but I think the backcourt group is going to surprise. Just need everyone to buy in to the team and their roles. Adding DHS was a nice addition to Cross, Cohen, and Wildens, as he looks to be a tough defender. It's definitely going to be a different look than the backcourt oriented rosters of MM

Zeke, this ought to be in the 2023 thread. A lot of it has already been discussed.

The Twitter world barely acknowledged any of our moves this offseason. So, I definitely agree that this offseason has been way more under the radar than other offseasons.

^ It seems to me that this is more a function of lower fan/media interest in the program this year vs last year.

yes, lower fan/media interest, and lower interest from P5/P6 recruiters. Last year, I think UMass landed 7 players recruited by the biggest programs (adding them to a roster with Noah, Dyondre and TJ). This season there's maybe 2? And not being added to an impressive roster of retained talent. No one staying entered anyone's thoughts for any all-conference spot. Not even a remote thought for third team. Noah was preseason second team last fall

Maybe low expectations will help.

Just noticed that George Turkson plays for Bradford Christian Academy who last year had PG Jordan Clayton. Clayton picked Northwestern over UMass last year so I'm sure they're friends and he's helping recruit Turkson to Northwestern! With that revelation, I don't hold much hope for us!

Yep, something that has crossed my mind as well

^ Has he visited Northwestern yet? I'm much more concerned about Texas A&M, whom I think is the overwhelming favorite here.

My take, which is admittedly illogical and rose-colored, is that whenever we’re included in a “final x” and we’re the only mid major, we’re the favorite. Otherwise, why bother including us?
