I really miss not having a red light go on (behind the goal) when there is a score. Hockey is a very fast game, the puck is small, and with players flailing away, I often don't see it go into the goal. Yeah, the ref does point his figure at the puck in the net, but how big is an index finger? Bring back the red lights!

The last goal in this game was truly a thing of beauty. I watched it a few of times on my computer before I could fully appreciate the wizardry of John Leonard. He skated in alone on the Vermont keeper and calmly faked him a couple of times before tucking the puck into the net. The referee dutifully pointed his finger. UMass players celebrated, Vermont players hung there heads, and the keeper picked up his jock strap.

Helluva game this afternoon. UMass’ defense looked great! They clogged lanes, got checks, and frustrated the Scatamounts. Glad to see the Minutemen come up with the big win when they needed it.

Dont nitpick the crowd. Almost 4K, many locals were there today with a sizable student crowd. Give it time - the locals will come back.

Onto Northeastern.

How amazing was this performance?

1. Starting goalie is out with an injury and the backup makes 30 saves for the win.
2. 5 goals by 5 different freshmen. Not a bad recruiting class.
3. Leonard's goal makes SC Top 10 to give us a little more recognition.

Not a bad day at the rink.

Alright the day is here. Been excited for this series all week. They are playing with house money at this point so who knows - maybe that lack of pressure will be beneficial. Here's hoping for a good showing.
