What a great metaphor, which I shared with my wife. She said about our book, "It certainly has plenty of suspense."xlgman wrote:cam - I've explained to my family that all this time watching games, re-watching games, reading and contributing to this board, researching other programs, following recruits, bracketology, etc. is like reading a season-long book for me. You're introduced to characters early in the preseason and you think you know who some of them are, while others are new. But the story is constantly taking twists and turns. New characters emerge. Heroes become villains and vice versa. Some characters you thought were unimportant suddenly become key figures. The leading man sometimes gets killed off (injured). The character dynamics can be riveting. And every season is another sequel, similar to the previous one but totally different. When you look at it that way, it is high drama. This board helps add a little comedy to the story, which is needed, as well as acting like a book club of sorts.
I'm hoping this book has a really happy ending starting next week!
Game 32, 2013-14: GW (A-10 Quarter-final)

I've been sick all week-end with a bad cold, so I didn't make it to Bklyn. That was a big disappointment. I'm surprised nobody seems to have had the same take on the game that I had watching it on TV, which is that players looked a little tired compared to the GW players. It seemed to me that we were just a little slow and GW had a lot more bounce in their step.

I do not write that blog. I'm out of the blogging business. I'm also not the person on the video, but the fact that the coach seems more concerned with what fans are saying then what is going on on the floor is further evidence that Kellogg has zero control over his staff. Now please remind me that he has coached us to three straight 20 win seasons and celebrate this apparent ceiling.

Berating UMass coaches is inexcusable, PERIOD. Aiden is trying to create a rift between the team and fans. Win or lose, this is OUR team and we all stand behind the guys (players and coaches) that go out there and give everything they have to help this program regain its past glory.

You are an absolute MORON. FYI, they won 24 games this year.aidanfromworcester wrote:I do not write that blog. I'm out of the blogging business. Bamford has erased McCutcheon
I just got home from Brooklyn. Too much to read here to get caught up but I'm sure anything I'd offer has already been said. The team did look tired and flat again vs. GW. Trey is in a slump right now and the entire team seems to be squeezing the ball a bit too much on offense, esp on three-pointers. The contingent of UMass fans Friday night was awesome. We went to 200 5th Street pregame and the place probably had more UMass fans than any bar in Amherst. The Barclays Center is a awesome area to watch a game.
BTW I went one page back to see what this whole issues with a UMass coach yelling at a fan stuff. The headline on that page said "...Devastating Loss To George Washington In A-10 Tournament" Devastating? What? Devastating? How was that loss Devastating? GW is a tourney bound team. The game was a toss up it was by no means devastating. Disappointing, yes but devastating, no. It was my first time reading anything from that blog. I have heard nothing but bad things about it all season and it was all true, it's nothing more than trash at the 1st grade level.

Time to Win

Kellogg is not above being criticized but what is undeniable is he has done a great job since coning to UMass. He recruited great players and built a solid program something none of his predecessors post-Cal did. You can debate whether the 2 prior 20 wins season are inflated because of weak competition but you can't deny this season their 24 wins are legit. And quite frankly winning 20 games in college basketball is impressive regardless when you're in a Mid-Major/borderline major confrence.
This season their non-conference RPI is 7th, they beat the winners of the MW, BigEast, and A10 champions this season. It's likely that 11 of their 32 games this season were played vs. teams that made the tourney and they went 7-4 in those games. He got the team ranked as high as 13th and made the season very enjoyable. The future is bright in Amherst! Kellogg has the program moving in the right direction and has the staff and players around him to keep the program moving forward.
