Looks like a well rested Randall West will be available come mid season if he so chooses. Think if I was him, I'd talk to Whip about switching positions. You can tell he is a competitor.

Not much will surprise me in terms of minutes played this coming season because there are so many variables that not too many of us have hands on knowledge about. However, it will surprise me if McLean gets scrub minutes.
Yes so many variables for sure... agreed.

IMO he probably would have barely touched the floor if this was last years' roster. Mclean played [partially] because there were no other options. In that regard he may have earned time this year based on getting more than he would likely have in the first place last year. Say that 10 times fast :)

I have very few predisposed assumptions about this season right now - I just want to see them win some games and grow this thing!!!

McLean is a major liability on offense. He literally does not know how to shoot a lay-up, never mind shoot from distance. Yes, he plays with a lot of energy and is a great rebounder, but that doesn't come close to how he impairs the offense. I will be very surprised if he gets more than scrub minutes with all the talent on this team.

Other than Pip and Pierre, I'm reserving comment on the guys until I see them play.

He may be the #1 or #2 QB next year, as he is only a Redshirt Junior now.

Seven QB's were in camp, and you know who #1 and #2 are. Some other guy gets a short look in a blowout win. And then there is the chance a graduate senior with a ton of experience comes in. Four years on the bench is not what I would want to call a college career.

I know who #1 and #2 are THIS YEAR, but as of May 2019, he will be the most experienced QB on the roster (over 2 transfers & 2 freshmen)

That is last season's McLean. Heard he has been working on his shooting all off-season long, and am hoping to see some improvements this season for sure. You cannot teach that athleticism though, now he has to connect it with more fundamentals.

If his shot becomes more consistent his athleticism will be more of a weapon for sure. At times teams didn't even guard him outside of the key because they knew he wouldn't make the shot

Whatever improvements he's made need to show early on in the season. Otherwise, he could be very easily lost in the mix of new bodies before the OOC schedule is over.

I hope McLean has been working being able to consistently make reverse lay-ups and to use his body to shield off defenders on an ordinary lay-up. Those are some basic skills that most players master at every level.

I've heard this story before, Derrick Gordon was always reportedly working hard on his jumper. I'm not saying McLean isn't working on his jump shot, and won't be better, but I'm going to remain skeptical until I see some results.

^Absolutely. Hard to argue with that.

It's also fine if Unique never figures out his jumpshot. That's just not the type of player we need him to be, as long as he realizes that and doesn't force them. He'll be an asset defending multiple positions, cleaning up the offensive glass, and getting the crowd going with dunks. If he goes 2 for 4 or 5 every game with no shots beyond 15 feet, that's all good with me.

He led the team in rebounding last year which was important to the team but last year was such an anomaly that you can throw out a lot of the stats.
