I agree. We just need to be patient and let the administrators do their jobs. I am sure they are on top of this. Great opportunity to get the FB program into a decent conference.

It seems to me that proven attendance is key here, and our track record at either stadium does not 'sing' for AAC admission. Conferences look for proven attendance, and engaged TV ratings, for UMASS games to use as a viable entrant.
I hope that the A.D. can perform 'magic', but UM's track record in delivering audience is, at best, suspect. And this is 75% about TV $$.
My professional view is that College football reached it's zenith of viewers several years ago, and that all but the Top 5 will have poorer TV deals, moving forward. The ACC just won a luscious ESPN contract. It might be the last of the breed, but they are Top 5.
UMASS is dancing on the head of a pin for a significant, but none Top 5, invite. My view, If no AAC, losses mount and a clear direction for football ambitions' downsizing remains.
If only the Patriots sucked.. right?

Ok here are some positive vibes. here is what I see over next 1-2 years and beyond (keep in mind that I work as a Psychic on the side concentrating on sports). With the ACC TV deal in place, none of those schools will jump ship.
Step 1: Big 12 expands with BYU and Houston and maybe Cincy and UCF.
Step 2: Big 12 signs huge TV deal solidifying its membership.
Step 3: AAC adds Umass and then FIU and ODU if needed.. old rivals UConn and Temple instrumental in getting us in.
Step 4: Umass announces major facilities upgrade
Step 5: Umass as a University moves further up the US NEWS rankings in 2017
Step 6: Ironically Umass never plays a game in the AAC
Step 7: B1G becomes first and maybe only P5 to go to 16 schools and they smartly choose UConn and Umass
Step 8: crowds for Umass games immediately swell to 30-35K
Step 9: Umass stuns #1 ranked Ohio State in a sold out Gillette stadium in 2025
Step 10: National Champs 2034!

While football is the driver in this conference realignment race, we have to remember that hoops and other sports play a role in this. Hockey and Lacrosee (both men's and women's) could go a long way in helping us. Steve Maz and I have been in this Big Ten idea for a while, and those sports are wild cards if or when that pipe dream invite comes along.

that said, B1G would take Umass and UConn in hockey and Lacrosse right now.. UConn obviously would have to start a team.

There is a poll on which teams should be added to the AAC. OF course StayCool works for NIU athletic department and don't know how many computers he has access t.o NIU has a commanding lead. UMass only has 10 votes or 6% of the votes. Know there are more than 10 UMass fans out there.
Currently Old Dominion Univ 29 to our 17 votes.
Please click on the link and vote for UMass.

On the ODU they have a thread to vote
Noticed a poll on the Conference realignment page that has ODU along with many others for consideration for AAC expansion. Just for fun if you would like to vote I have included the link. Show what kind of fan base and following we have. I think you can vote for 3, I decided I would just vote for ODU.
The votes for ODU and UMass have not changed, but Rice now has 16 votes and Marshall has 15.

Wonder about all this conference expansion stuff has bogged down our media contract, which was mentioned in Swamy's email to the faculty senate. Did talk to AD Ryan Bamford at an event and there was some management turnover that affected the finalize signing of the media contract. However as football season is getting closer and no news on this front, wonder if the conference alignment could be affecting the length etc of the media contract.
In short just hoping that it happens sooner than later and if anyone else has heard anything.

Yep, we compete on a national level academically but are light years away from being able to throw $ at sports like the "Majors".

Just read that the B12 wants to decide who they will be adding before the 2016 season begins. If that is the case, there is going to be a lot moves made in a short period of time. Hoping UMASS finds a good seat when the music stops on this round of conference realignment. Bamford et al need to work their magic.
