A 10 or MAC doesn’t matter ! All mid majors ; These days (1) you get a good player , he will transfer (2) you won’t get great players in portal , they’ll go the Arkansas etc , (3) they’ll be more chances at decent freshmen but you still won’t get the top ones (4). Basically new team each year Very difficult! Need to get lucky or catch lightening in a bottle or new coach , when, if successful will leave ! So it’s a bad situation no matter ! This may sound stupid but in long run at this rate , football has a better chance for a bowl game then basketball in the tourney ! Loss to Green Bay doesn’t matter really ! Only way to get in big dance is win the MAC or A ten tournamen! I’m an old timer who saw Jack Leaman’s and Cal’teams Hard to take and I try to rationalize after these losses ! Helps but only a little lol

1. Has anyone seen a line for this game? Are we so unpredictable that Vegas won't book the game?
2. This may be a test to see how the team responds to adversity. Last year they didn't do well and sort of tanked.
I'm replying to my second thought. I'm very disappointed in the effort against Green Bay. The announcers said UMass had no energy. If that's how they respond after losing a game they could have won, I'm worried about the team. I don't know if Frank has lost the team or if they just don't have heart. Either way, this should not have happened. I don't have any answers, but my expectations are way down now. Does the next game matter?

They’ll finish with a winning record ! Another tough call ! Who can you get ? Not sure if Thor has any input ? He hired Hurley at URI. And Archie who hasn’t done much better then Frank !

I still have faith in the players to play hard & win games. It's just the vibe around the team seems so muted. Players dont seem excited, they seem like they're playing stressed, trying not to make a mistake, just like past seasons. Even the coaches look subdued on the bench next to Franks scowl. It's getting old

Good points, guys. Floyd, I still believe in the players because I think the talent is there, at least in the starting 5 + Carbuccia.

69, I think the issue here is the messaging from Frank. Remember the CCSU game? He ripped them new ones in a game they won by 3 possessions. A game against a team that beat them the year prior and has been a 20+ win team for multiple seasons. He should have been thrilled with the win, but he tore his players down instead. I understand he wasn't happy with their play, but he's either completely forgotten or never knew how hard winning is.

If you recruit a team of shooters, and talk all offseason about how good their shooting is going to be, then win a game on the backs of those shooters, you don't have any grounds to complain about it. They did exactly what he praised them for in the offseason, they made shots. That's completely demoralizing for a team. He might not have lost the team yet, but a few more of these and he definitely will.

Green Bay won again today, 80-75 over Iona.

I feel slightly less bad about Saturday's loss. Not a lot, a little.
