Today's exercise in UMassHoops diehard-dom:
I'm currently sitting at Gate C9 at BWI on my way back from Florida. Earbuds are in and the UMass-Maryland game from 12/10/1994, played only a few miles from here in downtown Balto, pumping through iTunes on the laptop.
Such a great win. Dana Dingle was the hero of that one. MD had it a 2-point game with under 10 minutes. UM's next points
Dingle an offensive rebound and a bucket
Dingle a steal, breakaway slam, fouled, converts the and-one
Dingle converts the fast-break feed from Mike Williams
What was a 2-point game turned into a 9-point game.
I had forgotten that MD came back and took the lead later, but Refuse to Lose kicked in. 85-74 final.

^ Just my opinion but based on the poll there seems to be a strong correlation between UMass’ winning and the age groups represented.
LS I'm 44, class of 2003. Both of my parents are class of '74 alums. You could say I was destined to bleed maroon since both my parents were on campus to watch Julius play. They always talk about those magical years at the Cage. It seems like the BC hatred has somewhat faded away from what it used to be in recent years but I was raised to despise them!

^ The "hatred" may be rekindled now that we are playing them again. In case anyone forgot, it's Dec. 10 in Springfield.

Those were indeed magical years…and BC STILL sucks, as does puke-on.
Like MG said….playing BC again ought get the hatred going again, although hockey has helped to keep the hate for both schools alive and well.
