Because it is what I believe. Like every other poster, you post on your beliefs are, along with your hopes and emotions.
Why do people post that we should drop back to fcs etc, it's because what they believe. Sports like some of the academics do not make money. Our spending is realistic. You really do not believe most bb fans do not like the A10???

It's not about liking or not liking the A10, it was about the MAC, which would not have been a good overall move for the Department.

People say the FCS stuff because A) we were FCS before, and B) it's the easy fallback reaction to us being TERRIBLE so far as FBS.

Continuing to shit on the basketball fans as if it is their fault we aren't in a football conference is a terrible take and not something anyone should believe. In reality, we're all on the same team.

Glad the world is so black and white for you. Avid Hockey fans and football fans like the A10. It's not my fault the fans via attendance have indicated that basket ball is the number 3 most attended sport, it's not shitting, it's fact. Now I believe for the time being that A10 is the best place for our basketball conference. I don't think a new east coast conference will be a multi-bid conference as the A10. Yes do believe the MAC is one of the strongest single bid conferences with occasionally getting multiple bids in the NIT, but generally much worst attendance than the A10 overall. Believe in the current situation going to the AAC is like going to the MAC but on the other side as being more popular with fans and revenue and basketball bids. However the AAC is at risk of being raided as we are with the Big East. Especially if in the next contract cycle the media tells the Big East to expand. The best thing in my evolving opinion of receiving feedback from our fans and looking at fans from other conferences is to stay with the A10. We should be looking and willing to commit to a FB only solution but keeping an eye on our conference, A10, being raided and being able to maintain 3 bids most years and 2 bids on a down year. Think the northern 2 AAC teams, Cincy and Memphis are at risk to being poached. Don't think the travel would be ideal but be open. With the question asked about the Big12 and the impact of other conferences and a chance for the AAC, my reply was/is no. We are not geographical or performance wise acceptable to 75% of the conference, which is generally needed for acceptance.
Be proud of the present and look to the future.

Was about to post that myself.

If those teams are all invited, B12 is most definitely the #5 football conference, and the AAC is decimated. Their contract would get worse for sure, but they'd likely still be able to reload a bit.

But that would also mean a single conference would have lost UCONN, Houston, and Cinci on the basketball side in short order. This after the basketball brands had already broken away. Fans of AAC teams keep saying the A10 could be used to grab some non-football schools...but who the hell would want to join in on a conference where all of the best brands in their primary sport keep leaving?

Not sure if this makes any sense at all, but maybe the AAC and A10 should merge?

I mean that would be one hell of a basketball conference, and most certainly too unwieldy to manage. Plus the only football school they'd be getting would be us and I doubt that would make them too happy

Yeah, I know it's a bit out there... but they are at 12 schools right now, and possibly going to lose 3 to the Big12, and maybe another 1-2 elsewhere? If all they are going to do it try to poach the A10 schools, why not merge? The #s don't work out at the moment to keep things balanced, but we've seen crazier shit go down.

Even if the AAC lost 3 teams as discussed on this thread, think AAC will be on par with the A10 and worth considering. Both basketball and football would have to drastically improve to get over the geography issue with us in New England.

Thread talks about the B12 commissioner visiting 4 universities with an undefined timeline on when it would all happen. It's a big plus that Memphis is on the outside looking in.

We'd most likely be interested for Football purposes. The rest of the A10 would likely not be as non-football members.

All realignments happen on Tuesdays it seems, so since it's a holiday it wouldn't be official until the following day and therefore we'd be good for the tuesday "rule"

Looks like it is in the bag for the AAC schools to the Big 12. Wonder if that means anything for UMASS. Anyone have a tap on Bamford's phone?

With Cincy, UCF, and Houston gone, the AAC is hurt dramatically in Hoops, etc.. I would prefer an out of the box approach as I think UMass needs to get away from the likes of Fordham, Lasalle, and Duquesne.

New conference..

UMass
Temple
Buffalo
East Carolina
Liberty
Coastal Carolina
South Florida
UConn (football only)
Navy (football only)
Army (football only)
VCU (non football)
URI (non football)
Dayton (non football)
