Re: 2021-2022 Season
In order for guys to transfer there has to be a landing spot. There are so many players in the portal. If Tre leaves others might want to go, too. They just might not have a place to go to.

I wish that first part were true, and I disagree that I'm doing a disservice to the program. To each his own I guess. Not Trigger wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 8:59 pm The only rumors are coming from you Niles and I think you're doing a disservice to the program by propagating them.

It sounds like baloney except for the fact that Bergeron always changes jobs every two years. But I think it would be a bad move for Tre to go to a team that's gonna suck way more than UMass.TheOFFSeason wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 7:17 pmNo info here but what if, say, the new BC coach is looking to hire an assistant that can bring a good transfer with him..Floyd wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 4:23 pm The only thing I could see is if Tony was offered a HC job somewhere and the Woodstock gang followed him. I want to see this team all here, intact
But I'm taking your approach 69, sitback and just ignore the talk until something happens

Wasn’t saying specifically BC, just using them as an example of a school with an opening...could be any school. However, if you add Tre to what BC brings back they are not a bad team.uz2b-len wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:42 pmIt sounds like baloney except for the fact that Bergeron always changes jobs every two years. Things similar to this happen, and now that transfers don’t sit out they will happen more frequently, so don’t think they can’t happen here because you don’t want them to.
Niles has heard rumors and if he heard them in multiple locations it is quite possible there is some truth to them.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if TB was offered a staff job at a P5 program to bring Tre along.

Can we just stop this bullshit for a little while? I’ll leave it to Tre to tell us where he is at:
“We’ve got a lot of talent on this team. We’ve got a lot of dudes that can go every night,” Mitchell said. “Building off of this is that experience. As they get more experience under their belt, we’re going to get better and better.”

I hope I'm wrong but Tre does not seem like the type that cares about being on a P5 team. TB is not dumb...he knows Tre will be A-10 player of the year next year and will get all kinds of national attention...he doesn't need to go to a P5 school to do this. Plus, it's a high risk option. Tre is THE guy at UMass...he goes to a P5 team, he will have 2-3 or more guys on the team better than him.TheInsider wrote: Mon Mar 08, 2021 9:25 am Wouldn't be surprised at all if TB was offered a staff job at a P5 program to bring Tre along.
TB also has a son who is going to be a senior in HS next year...he's not going to uproot his family and miss out on his sons senior year.
I think Tre knows if they can keep this core together one more year, they will have a chance to be a top 25 team, win the A-10 and make a run in the NCAA's next year. I just don't see him leaving.

There wasn't really a big question but Ryan Bamford confirms Matt McCall will be back for 2021-22.

All you have to do is look on Twitter. Parents of players are talking about “lies” McCall told and “going somewhere you’re appreciated” and the fiancée of your top assistant coach/mom of your best player is replying in support of those statements. McCall will be back as Bamford already confirmed but I’m sure guys will be gone possibly among those being Tre and Bergeron. Where’s there’s smoke there’s fire. I don’t think family members of players are putting this out there just for the fun of itNot Trigger wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 8:59 pm The only rumors are coming from you Niles and I think you're doing a disservice to the program by propagating them. No, they're not. McCall is not implicated in the tweets, and you and others appear to be making bad faith arguments to support your own personal agendas.Kelz626 wrote: Mon Mar 08, 2021 11:22 amAll you have to do is look on Twitter. Winning games solves a lot of problems. Let it all work itself out

Oh right so it must be a complete coincidence it was posted right after the loss to St Louis and basketball related, but not about McCall. Please. if you want to live in delusion then that’s your choice but to try and ignore what’s out there on a public forum is ridiculous. McCall lost the locker room in Chattanooga, lost the locker room here 2 years ago and is losing it again.DanaDingle3 wrote: Mon Mar 08, 2021 11:37 amNo, they're not. I don’t have any sort of agenda other than seeing UMass be successful. if you want to think that all of a sudden 5 years in McCall is gonna bring everyone together and figure it out great. But there’s little to no chance that happens. McCall doesn’t have 1 flaw to work on its everything with him: game planning, in game adjustments, substitution patterns, getting guys to give effort. Bamford can’t or won’t move on from McCall and it will cost him
