There is a video on espn with Andy Katz responding to shaughnessy s column

On Page 160 of Coach Cal's book Refuse to Lose he talks about the feud with Joe Burris. After the incident when John Chaney attacked Cal at the Mullins Center Burris went to Philly and wrote a "puff piece" on John Chaney. Cal says in the book he didnt speak to Burris for one year after that. Cal said if he went after Chaney none of the Philly writers would have come up here and wrote an article lauding him in the Philadelphia papers.

Yeah, but Burris' wife's dad was an important guy, so......

Good job by Katz giving the real facts in the Camby situation and letting everyone know that the article had the wrong slant.

Katz really gets it about UMass. He also sticks to the facts.

It was great how calm and rational he sounded, too.

UM is piling on with the love for Cal. They're presenting him with a Distinguished Achievement Award, during undergrad commencement on May 8.

I couldn't even tell you who spoke at my commencement and it was 5 years ago.. Some government lady IIRC

I know John Updike was the speaker at my graduation in 1993. I don't remember what he said, I was half in the bag from the bottles of champagne we all smuggled in.

If I recall it was Thedore Roosevelt who spoke at my graduation. Can't remember what he said either. What are we talking about?

Berkshire Bob spoke at ours. I remember it well. He got on stage, said, "UMass Basketball SUCKS!! CAN YOU DIG IT??!!"

Then he threw down the mic and walked off. It was bizarre.
