One always wonders when schools 'shoot up' from no where how they do it. This, of course, reflects winning at all costs. However, it is unclear to me how you hold the coach responsible for a kid selling cocaine on the street.
Looks like the coach woke up and found out what he had on his hands, and hence the next group off the team.
Let's not get too 'high and mighty' - it was not very long ago we had the Lax assault incident with a number of varsity athletes. UM handled it well, but it still reflects on the school. Felonies do happen on and off campuses, and across various schools. Usually, all the school can do is react, and keep fingers crossed.
As far as FB entries on 'street pharmacist' - what a dummy.

Please Stop Insulting the Zoo
By Pete Thamel
How bad have things gotten for the Binghamton basketball team? Well, it took a shot from Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com on Monday. But perhaps an even more damning column came in the form of a letter to the editor to The Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin on Tuesday.
After the athletic director Joel Thirer compared the men’s basketball team to a “zoo” in the wake of suspending six basketball players in 48 hours, a local zoo employee was offended. Amanda J. Padwa, the zoo’s business manager, fired off an angry letter, “Comparison insults zoo.”
She wrote: “Not one of our tigers has been arrested with cocaine. No otter knocks over old ladies to shoplift condoms. Our bear doesn’t have temper tantrums and storm off his exhibit. You won’t find any of our lemurs busted for smoking pot. So, please, stop insulting zoos by comparing those criminals to us.”

On Sept. 13, 2009, Binghamton University police stopped Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben for speeding and found marijuana in the driver's side door and on Mayben's person, according to a report of the incident. Mayben told officers the marijuana belonged to his teammate, Fine. He was ultimately cited for speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana.
