If we recruit and pay Matt Cross type players who are edgy tough, and super competitive then we will win again. Diggins and Cohen were good players but lacked the intangibles that MC brought every night! Curry and DHS have it but they have floundered under Frank!

I like your thought process about toughness, but I think DHS has developed very well under Frank. He's been our most consistent player and brings energy every night.

I agree DHS has developed but I think Curry and DHS are better than what they are producing. Thought Curry would average 18 per game this year and DHS would be double double player.

One of the big mistakes FM made was taking Rivera (a football player playing basketball). He really needed to grab an effective Big to play the 5 and than DHS would be the 4, where he excelled.

I'm a big fan of Matt's and love what he did here. But I would be shocked if his name was called. I look forward to being shocked.

I hope he achieves his dream of being drafted. I’d be happy if he signed with Maine too.

Ugh, I hate how they drag it out to a 2-night affair now.

Players were drafted today that were outside of The Top 100 Big Boards ranked by draft analysts. So, there was a chance Matt Cross could have been drafted but unfortunately, he was not selected.

Matt was signed to a Summer League deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

For anyone interesting in watching Cross, he's on the same summer league roster as Cooper Flagg. Games are July 10, 12, 14, and 16.

What do y'all think of this?

I'm happy for Matt that he's getting this opportunity. But, for us to promote it like he's one of our own, it feels a little cringe. He was only with us for 40% of his college career, but more importantly, he left us behind and finished his time elsewhere. Can't blame him one bit for getting the bigger bag, but feels kinda desperate for the official UM account to be boasting about a guy who transferred out.

Maybe part of my bitterness is just due to the new era where no one stays put anymore.

Totally agree. It's as if the Red Sox took ownership/credit for Babe Ruth getting into the Baseball HOF.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

The difference here for me is that Matt graduated from UMass. He's a local kid and one of ours. He did good things in his brief time here, and when you get that degree, it adds a layer in my opinion.

Frank also amplified the UMass team post, and congratulated Matt on his summer league invite in a separate post. I didn't see UMass or Frank do the same for RJ Luis' 2-way contract. There's a difference between a kid that bailed, ghosted the Collective, and didn't graduate vs Matt's path.
