I'm not on board with the G-League to NCAA thing, but the rules allow it and it's a different situation with Ahmed. First, he's eligible as far as we know. RJ isn't and is suing his way back in. Second, Ahmed has been "transferring down" the whole way, pro ball to Big 12 to MAC, probably getting less money at UMass than any of those previous stops. Third, he's going to have to go to class here, we're not paying him multi-millions (I have no idea what RJ's getting, but it's probably a TON considering it's Will Wade and LSU). And finally, Ahmed doesn't have a history of screwing UMass and The Collective over. Pat stepped up on his own and volunteered his time to do that, RJ agreed to a deal, and then ghosted him and walked to St Johns for more money. No communication, no counter offer, just radio silence. It was dirty.

Those are the differences I see between the two at this point. I'm willing to give Ahmed a chance.

The NCAA set themselves up for this by allowing international guys that have played in leagues for years to be eligible and I don't think the stance that those players were only getting bare necessity contracts really shifts the balance in their favor. That said, the Yam Madar thing is absurd. Who also by the way, kind of sucks, so LSU reportedly paying him 5 million is even more absurd. He played in the summer league once and was way over his head.
