It wasn't humbling enough to get beat at home by George Mason and St.Louis when they should have won. How bout being ranked and faling out of tbe top 25?
They have not played a complete game in 3 months and have been humbeled along the way. The seniors need to take a look in the mirror and wake up and decide if theh want to go out like this.

I do care. I don't want them to lose. But THIS loss is not the end of the world. The NEXT loss is the end of the world.
And honestly, this tournament was lost for UMass when Jordair Jett drove the lane for a game-winning layup. Let's face facts.
They havent played the same since that game. As for St Lou... they will be 1 and done in the NCAAs if they face any team who is athletic. I watched their game today and lately... they are not a shooting team.

Too many people see a team play poorly/not smart and equate that with a lack of effort. It's possible to play hard and not play well or smart.

Worried about the frontcourt. I love what we return with Trey, Gordon, Esho. It'a a good start. And I expect Hinds to be a good A10 player.
Who gets all of Samp and Putney's minutes? Coleman?

GW has shot it great, but we haven't exactly made them work for much.. We held them to 61 in their own gym. Giving up 60 plus tonight.
Dyson really should have been getting more time for games like this when we need someone else to go to. He won't be making the freshmen mistakes tonight if he had more playing time throughout the year. Santee probably should have gotten more.
Keep playing hard in this one, but just don't get anyone hurt.

The front court will be the biggest question. Maxie will be great but he can't play 40 minutes. Hopefully Cady will improve. We don't even need him to be a guy we can throw it into. A guy that can play good defense, rebound the hell out of it and clean up the offensive boards while finishing on dishes from Trey and Hinds would be great.

the thing that blows my mind is how the line could have us favored... we were playing a back to back and GW hadn't played a game yet. usually that shifts lines at least 2-3 pts...
but hey, idk.
I think they ran out of gas tonight because they had to put some much effort into the previous night. I think they care, they're just playing terrible. a one and done would definitely not be the way we want to go out, hopefully they re-group and figure this out.

Does it matter? Carter and Putney have been pretty terrible lately.

Who didn't play hard? Outside of a 5 minute stretch, Chaz played very poorly. But he played hard. Samp always plays hard, he just has serious limitations against A10 frountcourts. Maxie and DG need no explanation. Trey's shot is still MIA but he busted his ass. Dyson got minutes and was very active.
Putney had lapses. He almost always does. He could have played harder, more consistently, as usual. Cady is similar.

No, if there's one thing UMass did right tonight, it was play hard.
Agreed. This team expends a ton of effort, every time out. It just doesn't always expend it wisely.

Maxie, Trey, DG, Samp and Chaz all played hard. Chaz just didn't have the intensity we need, he wasn't lazy though. Putney and Cady just went through the motions though. I question if Cady knows what working hard really is. And I feel like if things aren't going his way Putney just checks out.

Frontcourt will be fine. I fully expect Bergantino to average a double-double.
