And just like that... RJ Luis is involved in a trade.

The Boston Celtics are trading Georges Niang and two future second-round picks to the Utah Jazz for RJ Luis

^ Absolutely a salary dump. Still, it would be great if RJ stuck and made a contribution. Hopefully, UMass would get a mention from time to time.

I'd be surprised if Luis stays on the 2 way contract. You can only have 3 two-way contracts and the Celtics have 2 with Amari Williams still unsigned. He was drafted at 46 this year so I doubt they would just let him walk.

I'm just happy that Niang is gone. Even as a Mass native, hated watching him play.

Surprised by this considering the amount of pushing the Celtics social media did regarding his Ecuadorian heritage.

Did the Celtics have anyone else with Hispanic roots? UMBB did something similar for Hispanic Heritage Month with Dwayne Wimbley's Cuban roots.

No idea, I just know there were tweets about him being the first person in the NBA from Ecuador. He was also part of the crew that did the Patriots pre-game bell ringing 2 weeks ago.

He's fringe NBA roster, I get it, just surprised they pushed him like that only to waive him... figured he'd at least be in Maine.

Crazy how this kid’s career has gone. He obviously has talent. Must be his attitude?

He doesn’t look like he understands what is going on. Very talented individually.

What do you mean by this? No offense intended. I just haven't been following RJ's pro journey.

He was way out of sorts with his teammates and didn’t seem to know when to push the ball and when to set up on offense. On defense he didn’t seem to understand how and when to help. (I’m not a great lip reader, but the defensive lapses resulted in a a few teammates and coaches giving him instructions that seemed to align with/support my conclusion).
