It was actually a reasonably fair story, unlike the gratuitous shots Shaughnessy takes. It was written by a news reporter, not sports.

This is a major point. Good to see the Globe allow someone else to do this rather than Shank "I hate Cal" Shaughnessy or Bob "I couldn't get into UMass" Hoeler write it.

It wasn’t.

…Cue Innervisions writing “it was the correct move.”

Seems things are trending a bit heavy toward my observations (“logic”) these days. By comparison, you have anything remotely clever to share, or just sputtering and effortlessly lying per usual?

I also pay $1 a month for my glob subscription. It's barely worth that. I haven't bothered to read the UMass Football article. But it has been a horrible & disappointing season and there isn't much else to say. Hoping for a win against BG. In 10 days the season will be over and Thorr will be in place as SDAD and CAO. Thorr has presumably been tasked with making a comprehensive assessment, recommendations for immediate improvement and a budget for achieving same.

I can’t be bothered to hear a whiny purple haired globe snob whine about UMass football when the CEO of this state has flushed more than a billion $ of taxpayer money down the toilet to outside invaders. UMass football $ is a drop in the Quabbin compared to the real waste and corruption in this state.

Unfortunately Amherst (Greater Amherst area in general) is a microcosm of the people who make those decisions in this state (the CEO in this case) - which goes back to my point about this area code not having the correct intestinal constitution for big-boy football.

FBS football is just not a priority here (in the North East and in MA specifically) and never will be. However, $300M towards a Women's Pro Soccer venue is far more important (and in the correct area code).

I had no idea we were paying off the Klingons!

Seriously though, hard to take issue with this article, there's a lot of truth there. Stuff that's hashed out on this board daily.

This is way the congressional map should lump Amherst and Northampton with Springfield and allow a house of representive federal district in the northern tier, which is not as liberal. Our state rep is independent.

I believe that the Flagship State School in Massachusetts gets less respect from the state and local government and hence the people than any state in the country! PS: It blows my mind that in 162 years of being THE State University, we've never had a Governor.
