I agree it will probably be a lower scoring game. Maybe this will be game one of the Mark Pope redemption tour. Guy has elite skills and speed. This writer seems to like our chances and he makes a point I didn't realize. NMSU only beat 1 team last year with a winning record.

The spread is now down to +4 points at Points Bet. This is creepy. Could we win our first FBS game on the road season opener???

NMST-7 and the Under (45) = easy money

Not sure what the "hype" is that Eldon doesn't buy, but I agree that this game will most likely be a low scoring rock fight. Last year it was 13-16 entering 4Q. Heat could be a factor as its going to be mid 90s in Las Cruces at 5pm on Saturday. Last year UMass lost b/c the secondary got burned on a some nice 2d down pass plays including one for a TD and b/c UMass OL and passing game faltered. Hopefully the passing game is improved w/Taisun throwing to Simpson, Johnson, Pope and Campiotti. The under seems like a good play here. Gotta have faith - Brown has done an excellent job in upgrading this roster since last season.

Honestly I think the line has moves recently because people finally looked at the 2 deep and the rosters. We have an older team now and are loaded with p5 transfers. They have an experienced offense but lost a lot on D. Does this mean a win... no. Just means people think we are more talented than in the past.

It's funny over on thier board they are all picking NMSU to win.. as they should. 1 or 2 think it will be close.. a bunch think it will be an easy win with them scoring in the 30's.. I'd be very surprised if they got in the 30s

Expecting a much more disciplined and improved UMass team led by Don Brown and a season opening win.
Let's Go Minutemen!

What "hype"...........I count 107 on the roster. Don't think we've ever had that many. Take the Zoo and the over.....don't donate your $$$$$$ to DraftKings FanDuel etc.

We deserved to lose that game because idiot Casula wouldn't go for it on 4th down WHILE WE WERE LOSING. We punted and the QB threw a bomb over the middle for the TD.

I'll say this: I don't know if we go 1-11 again or 2-10 or 6 -6 or whatever but I've never seen 107 kids on the roster. An absolute TON of P5 transfers and a lot from Univ of Arizona. The mere fact all those kids from UA are following Don Brown tells me something. Don Brown is obviously in the twilight of his career and hopefully we get some wins. He's just what this program needs right now: older, experienced, Mass. native. Almost a Wade Phillips type.

Yup... I remember some really dumb calls that game. Don't forget this was a 16-13 game deep into the 4th. They were marginally better then us.. marginally... that's what gives me a little hope. I think we improved our roster much more than they did.

So much depends on how the O-line performs tomorrow and the rest of the season. It has been a real weakness since Whip left: Fat, slow, unathletic, and worst of all, not physical. I have no idea how it will go tomorrow, but hoping for the best. If this team starts to win the bandwagon will get big fast.

Hoping for a great game and predict we win. Score idk, see what the offense can do. Think we win 27-17.

Casula needs to show vast improvement this year but calling him an idiot for not going for it is idiotic. That is head coaches call..

I know thier offense should be good but I keep reading how good their defense was last year and that's why NMSU should win and cover... do most not realize they lost most of their defensive production from last year and are pretty young in the front 7???
