Delusional you are.... There is a 0.0% chance UConn leaves he BE, not to mention that BC and UConn will never let UMass into their same conference .

The mental gymnastics people go through here to try to justify UMass being in any kind of power conference is mind boggling. Having aspirations is one thing, but to speak in such absolutes is just crazy talk. Are you hanging out with Rodgers at his ayahuasca camp this week or something?

That will happen right after I hit the Powerball and a scratch ticket for $1,000,000. You're talking the old ECAC when we were with Pitt, Penn State, Rutgers for a few short years and that was in basketball. UMass football really needed to move up to FBS or 1A back in the late 60's. Only thing is: 10 more little FCS schools are going to move up (WAC) and then there will be an entire reorganization of FBS. I do think that we get a couple of wins this year. New Mexico and Merrimack at least.

exactly............I live down the street from BC and their new indoor football facility is "to die for". BC is ACC and that puts UConn and the Big East to shame. Dave Gavitt really stuck it to us when he created the Big East. Still think UConn is on borrowed time re: their football program. It's the only off campus stadium that is 25 miles away and CT is a basketcase financially.

SteveMaz is so damn good at what he does. Watching people get riled up over his (very obvious over the top and targeted) posts has become a time honored tradition. Well done, sir!

After winning our second straight national championship in basketball and receiving an at large to the expanded CFP, we will immediately be invited to the B1G.

Wasn't there another guy on this board that used to do that same schtick back in the Lappas days? I am not talking about when you did the 27-4 thing on the old predictons thread either?

Yes, there certainly was, but I am pretty confident that person had a specific personal relation to Lappas. Mr. Maz does not have that in this case... he's very specifically having fun with you (plural).

I just enjoyed prediction 30-0 each year.. a guy can dream!

I rule and all of you drool... LOL from that cinematic treat Cats and Dogs..

The fact remains there is a chance Football is separated and the door will open for new conferences to form as the main reason for all of the conference movement the past 20 years is football. Like minded institutions will group themselves together with geography in mind so BC and UConn will solely not be able to keep a rival from being in a conference with them. BC would be far better off being in my conference than they are in the ACC sans football.

In The Old Days pre-Big East there was the Eastern Athletic Association:

1 Villanova 9 1 .900 13 13 .500 70.1 67.2 2.3 1.0 Reg. Season Champion
2 Rutgers 7 3 .700 22 9 .710 70.0 65.4 4.6 0.0 NCAA Tournament; Conf. Tournament Champion
2 West Virginia 7 3 .700 16 12 .571 71.3 71.9 -0.4 0.3
4 Pittsburgh 6 4 .600 18 11 .621 76.5 70.0 4.4 -0.6
5 George Washington 5 5 .500 13 14 .481 78.9 73.7 -0.3 -0.7
6 Penn State 4 6 .400 12 18 .400 58.2 61.6 -2.7 1.3
7 Duquesne 2 8 .200 13 13 .500 73.4 73.7 -3.1 -0.6
8 Massachusetts 0 10 .000 5 22 .185 64.9 75.1 -10.7 -0.8

Dave Gavitt saw this and screwed us. He combined the P5 schools with the old Catholic schools who were P5 at least in basketball plus UConn.

Let's take a step back for a second.. What if Taisun Phomachanh actually is as good as the 4th QB in the class of 2019 and our offense all of a sudden is good? We know our defense was decent last year and likley better this year. Is 6-6 or better out of the question based on our schedule? I think not..

2024 opening the season with 5 Macs (we should get to the pt where a loss to a Mac school is an upset) and Wagner could lead to the best day in UMass home sports history vs Mizzou (this game wont be cancelled by them after SEC delayed entry of Texas and Oklahoma until 2025 or never.. see above..)

^ The 5-22 for UM tells me it’s ‘78-‘79!, Jack Leaman’ s last season; in the good old Eastern 8 😁 The last game of Coach Leaman’s career was on OT loss at Villanova in the First Round of the Eastern 8 playoffs after having lost at Villanova by 11 in the last regular season game only 3 days earlier.
