Based on the podcast yesterday i doubt H gets canned, but massive changes need to happen on staff and training staff (how can this many guys get hurt?).
Alternatively, the way to go for me on new coach would be to look for successful FCS head coach who is offensive minded and have him bring his top 15 guys or so over. Stabalize things and make a run at MAC title in 2028.

This could be the biggest rebuild in the history of college football. It's not gonna happen in a year or two, and does the administration have the patience?
How did things get so bad?

At least maybe then we could be Bryant.....

I don't think anyone is thinking it needs to turnaround next year or he gets fired - but how about winning 3-4 games and at least be competitive in most games. I mean every game we are down 14-0 in the 1st qtr - so deflating to sit down and watch and within 5 minutes you know you have no shot at winning

Coach H was hired to rebuild the program. The experience thus far of being consistently blown out shows that the main issue is that UMass lacks the personnel to compete the MAC. Coach H has a track record of success - but to be successful UMass needs to recruit much better and bring in players who are FBS/MAC starters. Not FBS backups/FCS starters..... which is what we're rolling out there with currently and it's why we're getting boat raced.

Seat has to be warming up. If there isn’t massive improvement the first month or so of the 2026 season, I’d fire him.
Won’t happen, Thorr went on a huge rant during the press conference how he’s learned his lesson in the past and doesn’t believe in firing coaches early
It was the only time Joe seemed dialed in on what was being said by Thorr and Bamford
On the Minuteman Command podcast, Thorr said that Joe "isn't a good coach, he's a great coach." One of the podcast hosts asked him what qualities he sees in Joe to say that. Thorr went on and on about something else. The host had to ask the question again and Thorr just basically said it's because of the connections and relationships he has. Joe isn't going anywhere no matter what

Agree but its gonna take a few years to overhaul the roster

So we get back on the "need patience" merry-go-round?
Then what that doesn't work, we start all over again.

You're free to not to support the UMass Football Program if you don't want to do so. Nobody is required to support UMass Football, the players, Thorr Bjorn or Coach Harasymiak. I happen to think we'll see improvement and a competitive program in the near future - but it is understandable that not everybody is going to agree.

UMass football is a universal joke this year more than any other year. If there is not significant improvement next year he should be gone. I mean this team would have trouble beating any FCS team.
Thorr’s head coach at URI is significantly better.

The program got killed by both Weei and the sports hub today. Apparently the fireworks were even on a Pat Macafee show today

Getting blown out repeatedly means the there is a serious personnel imbalance - this impression is obviously reinforced by the eye test and watching the games. The talent disparity doesn't mean that Coach H gets a pass, but he deserves the time to demonstrate significant improvement.

I can't bring myself to wanting to part ways with the Coach when I know the problem lies at the top of the Department.

Bamford fired Whipple in 2018 despite the fact that he won 4 games in successive seasons and was competitive in many others. He was not given remotely the amount of funding that this years team had.
Had Whipple been kept this program would be in good shape. Always had (developed) good QB’s.

Yes that was a terrible decision.
