very significant loss. They also are losing Brandon Wade and Bizeau and had already lost Michael Lewis. Those 3 didn't play many minutes. Perhaps we'll see a record number of transfers given this trend of bailing when coaches give a player fewer minutes than anticipated. Fewer players seem to put up with that each year.

My advice to all of these players transferring would be to look at the Texas Tech model and then look in the mirror.

The A10 exodus continues. A killer for Fordham.

Simply stated, basketball is a TEAM sport that works better if everyone plays their part. You don't have to start and you don't have to be the most talented player to be a huge factor in any given game including the Final Four.

^ Maybe they’re transferring because they don’t have a good relationship with the coach or players and are trying to escape a toxic situation that isn’t going to get better. Or maybe they want to go elsewhere for academic reasons, or maybe so family can see them play. Or maybe the coach is telling them to leave to make room for another player. I don’t think it’s fair to lump every kid who wants to transfer into the same group and criticize them.

I could agree with this if the coach who put his final stamp on their coming to UMass left them for a better paying job but that isn't the case at UMass and judging by some of your recent statements you believe the situation is going to get better
Or maybe they want to go elsewhere for academic reasons
Maybe, which of those leaving UMass do you believe fit that category?
or maybe so family can see them play.
Possibly would apply to some but let's see where they end up. If it's near home then I will agree.
Or maybe the coach is telling them to leave to make room for another player.
Very definitely could be the case with one or more players on the current roster.
I don’t think it’s fair to lump every kid who wants to transfer into the same group and criticize them.
I don't either and I don't believe what I said was criticism. It was a suggestion that maybe they should think hard about what they're doing before making what could be a life changing decision.

The transfer situation in college hoops is currently off the charts. I'm simply saying that a LOT of these players need to take a hard look at themselves before making what could be a life changing decision.

^ I thought your original post was directed at all transfers, not specifically those at UMass.

Grady maybe not... As far as I know he is retaining his eligibility. I find it hard to believe he will declare just to become a 2nd round pick. He will need some major helium over the summer for him to not come back, IMO.

Probably right about Grady. I almost hate to see him go for the sake of the league. In case you haven't been following the saga of St. Joes since they fired Martelli, here's a good summary from a SJU site. So it doesn't just happen to us:

Just to recap. Fresh Kimble is headed to Louisville as a grad transfer. Charlie Brown is entering the NBA draft. Jared Bynum and Lorenzo Edwards are in the transfer portal. Hakim Hart, Kenan Sarvan, & Jameer Nelson Jr. decommitted.
